When you own a lmtv or any other mil surplus truck its a good idea to keep a variety of tools, stuff like spare wire o rings duct tape hose clamps zip ties and a multimeter on hand. You will find a need for the majority of it at one time or another.

Usually one waits till they have the replacement filter in hand before removing the old one.

I had one of them new fancy southern automotive pcbs. Didn’t last very long. Only drove the truck a few times with it installed. Opened it up. Burnt traces on the board. Has a non military, low quality look inside. I will stick with rebuilding the older ones from now on.

21 12 is throttle position sensor. It’s mounted over the fuel primer filter with a cable going to the throttle. I would start with a visual inspection.

4 bolts hold the cover on the cartridge is held in place by the pressure of the cover over the base. Search haldex purest cartridge replacement. Very common air dryer used on tons of civilian applications in addition to military.

4 bolts on the metal top cover. Cartridge under the cover. New o ring included with the new cartridge. Takes a few min to do. Get a new cartridge not one that’s been sitting on a shelf for years. I do mine every 2 years.

The air dryer is due for service. At least replace the cartridge. The air compressor unloader is a common fault. The lube in there hardens up from sitting over time in the hot sun. A rebuild kit is available and you don’t have to remove the compressor to do it.

Not as east as you would think. I have never had one come off easily. Usually have to drill out at least one bolt.

Did you service the air dryer yet? If thats gunked and/or you are getting moisture past it nothing will work right.

Unfortunately that is not the cable. The first gen trucks do not have a data bus so to access the ctis there is a Y cable that plug in, between the ctis harness and computer. With a 3rd connector that creates a port for access. Those plugs are not the same as the ctis harness. Were you able to...

In theory yes. If you have a controller that supports diagnostics. And the Y cable to allow for diagnostic access. Good luck with that they are rumored to exist but I have never even been able to get a part number for the Y cable.

The 2 means you are in 2nd gear. Which is your starting gear. 1st would be low range.

Not sure. Dana offers a free download of the current stuff. Not sure if they have a legacy page. I would think upgrading to the newer usb style interface would work better. Most newer laptops dont have a serial port anymore.

Do you have the newer usb type dearborn interface? The newer dana software may not be able to find the older serial port style interface.
