Could Speedometer r&r Gen 1&2 Light Failure be Related?

It is possible you loosened the harness hook up to insturment panel (in upper right of your diagram). Those contacts could also use a cleaning, be careful, the copper contacts are pretty thin on the plastic. Test the light bulbs, they are the same socket type as front side marker, so easy to...

    Death wobble AGAIN!?

A follow up to my recent case; Swapping out the front tires got rid of the shake that probably caused the wobble in the first place. Goodby to another low mile set of General Ameri-550s that came on many of my GL wins. I notice that all four on this truck had a lot of tire weights bunched up...

    kats tank heater

Hear you go. This is not installed per instructions. Use at own risk. Works well for me. This is an older Kats tank heater form my plow truck 1008 which was retired due to rust. Recently put it in 1008 I am using this winter. Installed the way it was on plow truck when I bought it years...

    New M1008 with Headlight issues

Nice truck. Looks just like one of mine that is painted dark green, except my grill and bumper green too. Sounds like you know about the horn diode. Cutting it will probably be all you need to do if it is stuck on. Black out switch returns to middle. Just don't leave on, good way to...

    Death wobble AGAIN!?

Just got this 1008 fixed, mostly. Goes down the road and no wobble. Now that it is tightened up, I detect an unbalanced feeling form right front tire, which is where shake originated. Maybe a ply let go or something, they are old tires. Have to deal with them soon anyway due to dry rot...

    gun truck 100mph

Thanks for the interesting post. Wonder what the engine was? The vehicles seem almost too good to be true, as in they might have been very heavy, thirsty and expensive to build.

Kat's engine heater 2 failures in a row.

What type of Kats heater failed on OP's 1009? I've got a tank type(the kind you put in heater hose) that has worked well for years. Maybe the new ones are junk. Just picked up another one to put in another 1008, so I guess I'll find out how they last. Definatly block heater weather.

    Death wobble AGAIN!?

Well, please let us know what you find out. Have fixed 3 CUCVs with the wobble, and have encountered problems I listed above, no doubt there could be other factors. The 1008 I've been driving this winter just got it bad a few days ago. The back is full of ice and a pallet of frozen compost...

    Death wobble AGAIN!?

I don't know, the 'death wobble' is pretty hard on the stabilizer, might have wrecked it. Besides stabilizer, things I have found as contributers to death wobble, most common to least; Drag link ends (the tie rod from steering gear). Tie rod ends. King pin bushing/spring. Seized or failed...

    Too much injector cleaner?

Some of the really effective fuel system cleaners are hard on rubber and plastic parts and should be used only occasionally. Maybe try soaking a piece of fuel line in the one you are using to see if it eats at it.

    M1008 Seating

Pretty sure the seat is rated for 3 people max. Though most folks prefer to drive with two or less in cab. I did a road trip once with a 4 yr old, her mom & me in one of these, would not want to have two kids there. You probably should consider a different or additional vehicle.

    802A Exhaust questions

The thread is 1.25" NPT(national pipe thread). Here is a pict of mine from a previous post. Some guys did a nicer looking job with a flapper, but this keeps water out.

    Cab Back Insulation

I use a peal & stick, then cover with Lizzard skin. That adds more sound deadening and takes paint. I usually used Gillespe spray can in CARC green. Pictures a little out of order, but first is all cleaned up with Chassis Saver or Por 15 on any rust. Second is painted with product like...

    24v Battery chargers

I have a Bosch C-7 I use to top off & maintain batteries in trucks that don't get used much. It is just a trickle charger, but it has 12V and 24V settings and settings for AGM and regular batteries.

    Electrical Issue for 1986 CUC-V M1008

Yeah, the cables themselves may be ok, but lost some contact at the ends due to over heating. There is also more than one fuesable link. Sometimes they look ok and are fried inside. One good temporary way to hold down batteries is with 12g romex wrapped around battery tray, several twists at...

    Leaky Injector

Probably the seal, but the injector could leak if someone took it apart and did not lap it, or if they overtorqued it putting it back together. It is also possible to damage prechamber by overtorquing.
