    1984 M1008 PickUp Driveshaft-What fits

Yeh, everything is the same but the tube length is longer on the trucks with the NP205. The tail shaft is longer on the NP208, so the drive shaft is shorter. In my case, weld to weld measurement may not be helpful as driveshaft in 205 equipped 1031 is 'custom made'. I believe the standard...

    Transmission Slip Question??

A great place to start would be changing the tranny filter. It is probably original, and if you are lucky, it might help your problem. Otherwise, check out the vacuum system, lots of threads on that.

    1984 M1008 PickUp Driveshaft-What fits

My guess is you got a driveshaft from a truck with a 205 transfer case. These are about 58" outside yoke to outside yoke. The ones for the 208 are about 56".

    Injector nozzle comparison

Has anyone tried injector nozzles other then Bosch? The ones I recently bought for 6.2 from Rock Auto are Bosch India. They have not so good reviews in a Mercedes forum I look at. Most of those guys like Monark (germany) or Bosio (italy) and consider the Boschs inferior. This is based on...

M 1031 generator conversion to stand alone?

I'd say the 1031 running the generator is not that loud. An air cooled MEP without ASK is louder. But the fuel consumption of the 6.2 would rule it out for extended home back up for me. The 002 and 802, 003 and 803 for that matter, are much less thirsty. The 1031 is great because it is...

M 1031 generator conversion to stand alone?

I knew the Lima-Mac was internally regulated, but have not looked into the specifics much. The RPMs just need to be right from my understanding. Does it work like an Onan Magniciter? The Onan guys on the Stak love these due to lack of electronics, if I recall. By not tightly regulated at low...

M 1031 generator conversion to stand alone?

If you have the governor off the 1031 engine and all the wiring for it, it probably could be set up to govern any motor. There is a ramp up and overspeed circuit included in original PTO driven 1031 control box. A mechanical governor might be easier to set up, may already be on the Wisconson...

    Post your cucv pics here

My driveway in 2008, after my first EUC cleared. Ah, the good old days.

Has anyone tried to add an additional muffler to a TQG?

Well, this is not as nice looking. It is just 1.25 in NPT (national pipe thread), 45d coupler, a 90d 'street' and a 3in nipple. It is just what I had around shop after 002 muffler project.

Has anyone tried to add an additional muffler to a TQG?

I also put an 3 or 4 inch extension on my 802, attached to muffler output threads by a 45d coupler, and then another 90d at end of extension. This makes it point down so water can not get in and no rattling flapper and noise can be directed some. The thread on exhaust on these is 1.25in NPT...

Article seems to suggest the MEP 802/803 line leaves a lot to be desired.

Hear are a couple of the previous discussions: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?131571-Strongly-considering-selling-002a-to-put-towards-802a-at-auction-opinions http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?132418-Mep-002A-and-mep-802A-comparison For some reason, only one link works...

    M1008 Ignition switch

I'm sure it has happened. Have never seen it myself in the dozens of chevys I've owned and worked on. Usually if they jam, it is the rod that goes from lock core to switch has been bent or jammed by someone trying to fix something else on steering column.

Newbie looking for info/people familiar with the MEP 002a and others

Unfortunatly not, gives them more places to stay.

    M1008 Ignition switch

So you are going to replace a functioning, original, USA made switch that is OK? If it is on a CUCV, it may be low use. Lube the sliding parts up with white lithium greese or something. My opinion anyway. What ever you can get to replace it will not be as good unless you can find an NOS part.

    I need 100 kW of 480 3 phase...

There is a guy on the Stak that has a 300KW(max) 480V capable 3 phase with a Detroit 12V71 that might be soon available. Is in MI though. Thread is called 'Delco AC Generator'. Nice low hour unit looking for a real job?

Is this a vacuum test port?

The valve is mounted to passenger side of IP.

Is this a vacuum test port?

That is the hook up for the vacuum regulator valve for transmission modulator.

    New to mep 002a

The WIKI is pretty much as close to dummie's guide for an MEP-002a as you are going to get. No doubt it is harder for those with small screens. What is up with that? One can not properly read a TM or repair manual off a small screen. If you don't know how to print it out (admittedly an...

    generator is hunting violently

Very unlikely to run at stable RPM that way, so you know. Maybe time to get a new one from store if you really need it and don't want to sort this one out. If you think this problem on this generator is a pain, suggest you not get an MEP-002a.

    New to mep 002a

Looks like you might be right about that. Wonder how may other parts are missing.
