It usually ends up a stinking gooy mess.
I've seen good AT540's go for as little as $350.00 . They are not popular anymore because of the lack of an overdrive gear. A good TH4L80E is around $700.00 and just as strong as a AT540 when built right. They actually share the same "forward" and...
Sorry but your transmission is toast. Any water on the clutch discs will cause "delamination" of material. Since this set for three years there is no way any clutch disc will be good. That includes the torque convertor lock-up clutch too. Also the rust factor on the valves and other hard parts...
Yes. That has me concerned too. I have looked at a DuraMax swap, but they want $5000.00 for a "high mileage" engine around here. I'm trying to find a good MultiFuel I can rebuild, but they are becoming more scarce then Hens teeth !
The oil your suppose to use in a "airpack" has water repelling quality's and rust repellents in it. It is mostly used in Aircraft hydraulics. I have a gallon on hand, but it is pricey. Another thing I have successfully used in the past is "silicone grease" on the "airpacks" piston and seal and...
That injection pump can be used in a Deuce. You just need to "tweek" the settings a bit. I've used parts from other tractors that had an American Bosch PSB6A pump before. That pump was used on "many" vehicles. So if you come across one at a "swap" meet somewhere and it's reasonably priced, buy it !
That is one sweet engine swap ! I see your engine has a A/C compressor on it. Going to have A/C in the cab now ? That will be nice when your travelling down south.
I'm a big fan of drum brakes, especially on trucks. They can take more damage from rocks and debris than disc brakes can. A small pebble can disable a disc brake caliper !
The sad reality is that disc brakes are cheaper to make and have greater stopping power without brake fade then drum brakes...
The "handwriting" is on the wall guys. These old drum brake vehicles will not be supported much longer. On any old vehicle. Every new vehicle made now has disc brakes. Much cheaper to make, and less warranty problems for the manufacturer. Even in the old car world it is becoming harder to find...
Usually the slip joint goes "up" . That is to prevent debris and water settling in to the slip joint. So if your installing the shaft between the differentials, then point the slip joint towards the front of the truck.
OK, full throttle in 1/2" is not good. That means you either broke something or something has come loose in the injection pump. Since it has been coming on relatively slow, that should mean something has come loose. There is quite a few things that can come loose in the injection pump that could...
If you have "common sense" then you must take responsibility for your own actions. Can't have that in our "modern" society can we ! I need someone to blame for my stupid mistakes and wrong decisions .
At least that is what the "political elite" are telling me.
I"m sorry I went political here...
I went to a "silicone" hose for the top years ago for that very reason. Silicone hoses are much more flexible then normal rubber hoses. Good idea on the shroud too. That should increase the strength of the core considerably.
That's good to hear !
If the nut jobs who want military vehicles off the road win in Canada, you know for a fact they will try here in the States too.
Keep up the good work !!!
