CUCV GEN2 wiring Gremlin on 1986 M1008..assistance needed!

Glad you are getting it sorted out. Nice old style volt meter.

I did the unthinkable, added DOT3 To my master cylinder

One time I mixed dot 3 and 5, not by mistake, but because I was on the road and needed brake fluid. My nearly new front calipers seized a few weeks later. Live and learn.

CUCV GEN2 wiring Gremlin on 1986 M1008..assistance needed!

Missed it where you said bulb circuit works. Also you and Warthog posted about 5 posts as I slowly ambled though mine. Good luck.

CUCV GEN2 wiring Gremlin on 1986 M1008..assistance needed!

You might want to try cleaning contacts on dash cluster, check bulbs before you replace harness. If harness has been hacked up, replacing it is not too hard. Hillbillywizard might have one. Bulb holder in lower center of picture is gen 2 light, there is a 24 in black ink to left of it. Those...

M1009 cucv fuel filter won't prime / bleed

You can pressurize fuel tank with compressed air as mentioned in previous post. Open bleed valve at top of fuel filter base. Fuel should flow in that direction though lift pump.

M1009 cucv fuel filter won't prime / bleed

That is a good way to look for leaks in fuel line too. A good air gun with tube and a rag into fuel fill does the job. Keep face away . Open top of filter base and look for fuel/air coming out. Works best if filter base bleed is connected to tube and into clear container that you can see.

M1009 cucv fuel filter won't prime / bleed

Your lift pump might have failed, it may have been tired and just getting by. Could not re prime after fuel filter maintenance. Just went though this myself.

    Generators w/ Slave

When testing and working on, I have run my MEPs off one pin NATO cable off a CUCV, with two pin adapter when needed. I tape battery cable off with good electrical tape when running like this. Just remember you will damage charging circuit if you take battery load off generator while...

NC new guy in a non-working CUCV

Welcome to the site. You have a fried fuseable link. How it got that way is not clear. You mention a change from 12 to 24 V starter. Which way are batteries set up? (12 V parallel or 24V series) Would recommend you read the 'stickys' at top of CUCV forum. You can get a lot of help on...

    Alternator Rebuild Problem

I just looked for my old supplier, Spring Hill Auto Electric, 'city search' reports them closed as well. Search came up with www.aspwholesale.com. To find the 27 SI 100 parts, I had to put Cadillac Fleetwood (RWD), 1985, in their parts search. Have not bought from them, but prices seem OK...

    MEP-701A Questions

There is about 1/8th of inch between plunger and IP contact on mine and it works. The double nut on the base of red part of plunger is an adjustment, maybe try to run it out and re lock in place.

Welcome to the site. Post some pictures of the M 151 project if you want.

Upgrading my electrical feeds and controls

Soow is the right wire if you are running temp setups above ground. It is tough, flexible and therefore expensive. If I were doing a permanent set up, I would use(and bury) 2'' conduit with equivalent of 6/4. No need for SOOW in that application, as you don't need to flex it and insulation...

    MEP-701A Questions

What position is voltage selector switch in? On this unit you have to open control panel front to access switch. Some load, like a test light or solenoid "wiggy" voltage tester may be necessary to get true reading. Not laughing , we all got to learn. I think you drop your cable down from...

Won't start after sitting for 24 hours

Also check if lift pump is working well. Just had a lift pump go bad myself. To check if fuel lines are leaking, and also to backfill & prime new filter, use compressed air with air gun and tube, block fuel fill at tank with rag and apply air pressure. This is a good way to find leaks in...

Recent security upgrade to the site, please let me know if you see any error/warnings

When there where server issues a couple days ago, noticed site script in lower left corner was something like 'ibtrade' instead of the regular 'connecting to SS'. Probably just a script for one of the adds, but...

    Purchasing a CCKW .........Maybe ??????????????

How hard is it to get a truck like that, even if restored, though the safety inspection? In 1990, I had a Holden HR that was mint for a car its age and the inspector in Queensland said he was doing me a big favor letting it though, and might not have except he knew I was leaving town. Later...

    Vocabulary limits test

Thanks, I'll try to figure that out. or I will not use the word pro flig ate again. Though it could be a useful word when describing the govments destruction of good MVs. (Originally, I was just trying to goof on someone's reluctance to try spraying some lube at a squeaky bearing.)
