Do as you wish. At this point I would NEVER go thru the trouble bolting in a used transmission and torque converter. The work and risk are not worth the effort. Get the transmission gone over and be sure it is in excellent condition. Once you do that overhaul you can drive on with the confidence...
Take a tin can or a piece of aluminum and use a second hose clamp to put a curved metal guard in place. You can fix that easily. And if t=you watch it only bounces up and hits that hose at idle and rapid deceleration. But yes the guard needs to be in place.
If you were closer I would have a replacement top for a small fee. I have been cutting them up and putting them in vehicles going to the shredder. I have 4 or 5 M1009 tops and a 1991 K5 with shoulder belts attached to the top. They are all leaving here soon as possible. I only need 1 of them at...
I agree 100% DO NOT remove the fenders and the hinges are fine. It is the bushings that are worn. That simple. No grinder needed to remove the pins. Carefully drive them up while they are attached to the door. If you are a good door adjuster then by all means remove the door. Other wise have a...
Do you have sufficient voltage and amperage to turn the engine over? If you do you can momentarily bypass the glow plug relay with a jumper wire. Count to 10 and attempt to start if you have glow plugs and fuel it should start when turning over. Make sure you have 12 volts going to the big...
The box is back in and the bulkhead connection rejoined. I like the hinge that is on the upper side of the drivers door. May I recommend if you ever have to work under the dash on the fuse box it is very helpful to remove the door and the drivers seat. Makes childs play of the whole job. No...
OK. I may have covered some of this before but here is a quick rundown. It is raining heavily here and I am inside in the dry. The melted box and light circuit. The box is split. I pulled the red feed wire and cut the heat damaged ends off the wiring. Same as the leg for the brake lights...
No I do NOT think they are cut. I know they are missing the front bumper brackets and lifting tie down tubes. But CUT. NO I don't think they are. They still have the double reinforcements.

I ordered all these small parts to complete my M1009 plow truck job. More later. Take Care.
Heat, Humidity and Rain have played a key roll in my progress. Last night I did manage to get my Wife and Friend to help me get things ready to apply some primer. Next available evening is Friday. I look forward to some progress. Big projects take longer then expected when they are not your...
I have the fuse box and bulkhead connector back in the firewall and all connected. I also have the steering column in place and all the wires plugged in for testing purposes. So far so good. I don't have the column bolted into the truck or hooked up to the steering shaft. Just the 2 under dash...
That looks like a railroad truck. I pay anywhere between $700-$1,000 for having one gone over before it self destructs. I have had a few apart myself. Just like everything else I ever thought I could rebuild there is more to it then throwing a kit in it. If everything is not set up properly you...
Just a brief word on this transmission issue. I NEVER trust a used 35+ year old transmission. If I am building a reliable vehicle and want it to be my way to work not my work on every weekend truck. I do all the rebuilding up front. I have every TH400 from a CUCV rebuilt going forward. I found...
When I fix the melted fuse connection I always refer to this diagram for the fuses. The Main 30 amp on the right midway is the one I always find melted. The Stop and tail light one directly above it is fed on the same leg. I must cut that feed wire and place an inline in place for each circuit...

I seen this front bumper and thought if someone needed a nice new front bumper this would be a deal. I mean I could...
