I worked at a "machine shop" at that time so I had a buddy turn the threads on his lathe. Then I heated and bent the bolts. Stainless Steel is real tricky to bend, but at "Kolstrand Marine" we where one of the main suppliers for the Northwest fishing fleet out of Seattle. We sold tons of...
You do know the moment you decide to get rid of a tool you will need it the next day ! That is Murphy's Law ! And as we all know, "The Law is the Law" !!!
I've seen them on vehicles that are used in extremely wet (like going under water) conditions. Usually they are not greased with automotive grease but a "dialectic grease" to prevent corrosion.
Totally agree !
In my opinion, new bearings are cheap insurance. I found all of them "new" on eBay just last month for 1/4 the cost of new. I'm rebuilding another PTO I had sitting around or years now, just never had the time to get to it until recently.
Both "cattlerepairman" and "David" are correct. You need a oil that is good enough to lubricate but allow some wear so the rings can "seat in" to the liners. Then drain and replace all filters and go with a good synthetic. I use either "Rotella 6" or "Dello" synthetic diesel engine oil in mine.
Then you should look at the tow bar I made years ago. I posted it here somewhere. I made it to tow my first Deuce home from Oregon. Still works great just extremely heavy ! I made it out of "Triple X" pipe. That means it's walls are about 1/2" thick ! I was a lot stronger back then.
Yeah, that's a good one !
Where all children of our age, no matter what age that is ! Meaning, I'm living in this age right now so this is my age.
My son cannot get over the idea that I like "Imagine Dragons" music. For some reason he thinks once you reach a certain age your taste in music...
Totally agree. Now if you only have the attention span of a teenager then get rid of the radio. I too am able to listen to music and concentrate on driving. I still have my Class "A" CDL and have never had a problem with the radio. Maybe all those over the road truckers should turn off their...
I've used that trick back in my younger years when we had property near Napavine WA. It works OK for short distances but I would never get on a main road like that. The liability alone if something happened would ruin me !
So for a simple cash outlay of only $250.00, I own a almost brand new...
Have you priced out a Semi-tow truck lately ? For a simple tow of 10 miles it's over $600.00 here. I'd rather just tow the rig myself and save the money for other things.
Well I came across something interesting tonight. I was reading on old PM magazine article on the M135's and came across a repair fix some military mechanics where doing for the steering knuckle boots. They posted it in the PM magazine.
Here's the fix.
I had one of these trucks. I posted...
So you always will need another body then. I usually end up being by myself and have to tow something with my tow bar. My friends lead real busy lives (one owns a gas station and another owns a home repair business. The rest live to far away) and I cannot depend on them all the time. So if I...
I was referring to the "towed" vehicle. Unless you have a spare driver for that truck you cannot get away with just using a "strap" to tow it. Even then if the "spare" driver isn't alert you can have a nasty accident. I was towing my buddies car to his house many years ago, and since we only had...
Just so people didn't think I pulled those numbers from my A$$ I have uploaded a page from "Parker/Chelsea" .
I don't know why the picture didn't come through, but if you click on the "attach" it will open it.
