For the first filter, it should be a "water/filter" unit with a10 micron filter. There are several companies that makes a good diesel fuel filter unit. Just depends on how much you want to spend.

They couldn't move the engine to the center of the bus. To tall and to much noise. So they decided to keep the diesel in back. It was a colossal messed-up bus in so many ways !

So you didn't try and compress the bushing ? I know you used a jack, but that doesn't compress the bushing. In our bus shop I've had to use a 4 ton "porta-power" unit to compress the bushings. They can be that tight.

I know there are plenty of good sealants out there, but for a reasonable price the "Permatex 80631" works just fine. We used it on our busses in the transit department. No need to spend an "arm and a leg" for the same result. Just my 2cents .

I'd put the longer shaft to the rear axle. That would give you better driveline angles and more articulation without binding problems.

I use "Permatex" 80631 for sealing all my pipes and fittings. Whatever you use, make sure it is "fuel rated" ! There are plenty of pipe sealants out there, but only a few are rated to handle fuel and hydraulics.

All the IHC Scouts had front mounted shackles. Yes they handled a bit wonky at times, but off road they where great !

Well the question is how long will the driveline be ? If it's over 80" then go with a two piece driveline with carrier bearing. Actually 80" is pushing it, but I believe that is the max allowed.
