I agree with using related threads rather than starting anew. Will add that often folks, myself included, do not realize a thread is old and stale and direct questions toward those whom have long ago left. DriverDarrell was last seen in fall 2022. Hope springs eternal. He verified the...
@Keith Knight built two layers of solar. When traveling one sits under the other. When camping the lower layer pushes out as an awning doubling his solar surface—
You bring up a great point: store it.
I have wondered if it would best to enlarge the battery bank capacity rather than the solar recharge capacity. With a correctly designed system a 24v 200a alternator could provide 4,000 watts nominally once the starter batteries are charged. Perhaps...
One of my non-engineer thoughts was if we are mounting atop our white habitat bi-facial and the height above the ground, not hidden behind a parapet will have good air flow. Still thinking about whether horizontal, angled, vertical makes the most sense.
Horizontal would be fixed a set distance...
I understand.
We posted this here because at first we weren't sure if we had missed a circuit in the IAH system. Maintaining the fuel and oil systems with frequent filter changes and fluid replacement is critical to staying ahead of potential issues.
When we owned a number of big yellow...
This is cool, thank you for sharing. We have talked about mounting the panels on hinges so that we may deploy them based upon what latitude we are at, though vertical would be easier than adjustable angles. The smaller format Over Easy Solar looks to be almost made for RV tops.
Looking at...
I don't know anything about the Webasto heaters though the Arctic Kit Troop Heater schematic is on sheet 19 of the FMTVA1 schematics here on SS in the TM section—
This morning we took her for another run. 46ºF morning looking for the IAH to cycle on and off after startup. Then to merge up to speed on the interstate. Remember we have EcoHubs and have yet to reprogram the speedometer.
video of start up and merging on to interstate updated link to...
I have been wanting to add CAT ET to the mix and learn more about all the bits and pieces in that diagnostic kit you and @Lostchain suggested we pickup—
Well, this morning similar temperatures, new primary and secondary she fired right up smooth.
After swapping filters video
Hopefully we won't follow behind @ckouba too quickly. Though our rough idle had a different pattern and feel from his from watching his video.
Still back to this thread...
Yes, all new fuel lines. Hand pump stays hard. I recently ran the tank low, hopefully just picked up some silt from it. I should likely drain the tank and clean it out—
We have a few miles on her since pulling out the LBCD and disconnect relays. Everything seems to work except the Inlet Air Heater (IAH). At start up the dash light cycles on and I can hear the solenoid cycle off along with the dash light. Though once started the IAH does not cycle back on...
Very good. We all are dealing with replacing old rubber and cracking electrical, items previous owners did that may not help, and what we wish our vehicles to become.
The units with the CAT 3126b typically fall into two groups: before 18,550 and after. Though there are some outliers.
In most...
