Throwing money down the CUCV hole

Mine is a rust free AZ truck, I have ~$15K into it, and I'm not done yet. So I can only imagine how much a rusty truck could cost.

    Gen1 Light and Small Fire

I'm trending the other way as I like the 24 V system: a 24V electric fuel pump left over from the M35A2 and a 24V electric winch. Off topic, I know. Maybe "start" another thread.

Took the truck for a spin in the 108 degree heat, just to verify all systems are "Go". Now, all of MY systems might not be Go, but the truck is good :)

That is with a full tank of diesel + 2 spares + full CO2 tank + spare driveshafts + jack + tools. Don't forget I have a cage & rock sliders installed. And me, after...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I mount my own as well. The O-rings come in two sizes: too big and too small. You can read stories about heating up the small ones or freezing the large ones, none of that is worthwhile. Get the big ones (or even a spool of the correct diameter rubber), use a single edged razor blade to cut the...

    mounting jerry can m1009

Oooh, I see. I have one of those diesel transfer pumps from HF. Quite often I see a piece of construction equipment waaaaay out in the boonies ( or even in the median of a major interstate) just parked there, "offering " to donate fuel in an emergency :) I have never had to take up the offer...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

added a spare spare and an easily accessible hydraulic jack. At least two of the other rigs that I travel with run the same 16.5 inch, two piece, double beadlock wheels that I do. The tire on the bottom of the stack is mounted, ready to go. The top is a tire only. Recall these H1 wheels/tires...

Re-wiring the whole truck: enough is enough

now that the truck has a roll cage Will try going with two of these 6 circuit boxes that mount to a roll cage element. One push button will be for glow plugs, the second for the starter. I discovered that when I am harnessed in, I can't reach the dash mounted controls.
