I don't how you can say we "derailed" this thread. Since this is the "what did you do to your deuce this week" forum. Also naming a part by another name doesn't mean anything really. How many times have you called a differential a "rear end" ?
We all know what your referring to. Same thing...
I like the fact that they sell good tools and supplies at reasonable prices. Yes you can go the really cheap "Harbor Freight" way. Or go the extremely expensive way. This company though lets me buy decent quality items at a decent price.
Well I just got my new bender tool from "Eastwood" and it works great !
I thought I would share what I did today with it.
I'm in the process of getting my truck ready for my great expedition and I needed to remount my "Hi-Lift" jack. The old brackets where rusting, so I thought "why not make...
Let me know if you find someone who can do this Ok ? I need my rear window replaced and my cab top is from a 1954 Studebaker REO. So the window is much smaller then the later M35A2 series are.
OK, first off the "overflow valve" does not keep pressure at 60 PSI . That is the job of the "fuel pressure relief valve" .
Second, the hole is there for "air" accumulation to escape and for "cooling" of the pump head. Not for the fuel to flow with just the in-tank pump running.
Now according...
First off get your meds checked. Second, I agree with what you said. That is why if that valve is "stuck" """""" open then it will allow the fuel to """"bypass""" the hydraulic head not allowing enough fuel to compress as there will not be any fuel """"" . So basically you just said what I've...
Exactly ! Also were just coming into Spring so the weather is still a little bit crappy to work outside. I'm sure in a couple of weeks the weather will start to turn for the better and then someone will need to replace their axle boots.
That's true "Duuane" . All this talk about "Rare" trucks just reminds me of my late lamented 1945 "USMC" 6X6 M5-6 truck. It was so rare that collectors didn't even want it ! I had one which just went to the scrapper last summer. I could not find parts for it at all. No one had anything. It just...
What you can do is just use a heavy duty "C" clamp and suck the bracket up so you can access the bolt holes.
I've installed these bushings with that much gap all the time. You just need to compress it. Really you don't want any slop when you install them. They are a "zero" clearance bushing...
I was under the impression the truck would not start. So it starts but will not continue to run ?
I do know if that "over-flow" valve is stuck "open" then it will "not" allow enough fuel to stay in the Hydraulic Head to be compressed by the piston (rod) . Especially when the boost pump is...
Just for grins and giggles, does anyone have the NSN numbers for these bushings ? I'll try and get ahold of the Gillig suppliers and see what they say about their parts fitting.
I don't have the TM's for these trucks or I would look them up myself.
I suppose I should post what mine has been doing. Since my last test here, I've been running my unit in deep freeze mode ever since. It has worked great. No problems at all. Keeps the temp at -23C . I just wish I had bought the other one at that price then !
This unit is going into my S250...
I'm sorry I didn't read this post earlier. I would have cut off the frame behind the cab and using some original frame from another deuce "spliced in this new section. You can weld this frame as it is "not" hardened. Then I would get some "C" channel made up to fit "inside" the original channel...
After driving my new Chevy with it's little camera's all over, I've got really used to just looking at the dash to see what is going on around me. Like you said, with the price of a complete camera system coming down I'm really tempted to install one on my Deuce. At my age it is getting real...
