I have found the 24 volt wires to the alternator regulator become intermittent or go bad. If this is the case it will confuse the fancy charging system. Does your voltage gage go up and down? Dummy volt light come on dash? I have seen the A1 polarity protective box used in a first gen truck with...
The 3rd to 2nd downshift can be hard or jerky on all of theses trucks. You should have a single digit wtec3 in a 3126 A1. It will display errors and parameters. The allison guide is available online. I would leave the exhaust brake off for normal driving. Are you in low or high idle? High idle...
The rears have springs. They park the truck. The fronts are service only. There are 3 check valves behind the drivers for step they crack inside and you will get a service air leak when applying the brakes.
How is the generator outputs connected to the load? Or does the generator just charge the batteries thru a dc power supply? Across the same terminals the solar panels are connected? Isolate dc sources with big diodes.
Are you using the generators internal charging circuit to recharge the inverter batteries? Or a power supply off the 120 volt gen output? If the gen is running with the inverter outputs directly across the gen outputs this might cause an issue. I would think you would want to toggle back and...
There are contacts when the solenoid throws out the bendix that get pitted and burnt out over time. The solenoid contact closest to the block is the positive. Get a clip lead on there jump it to 24v see if its the starter.
I have a good used one. I dont know of anyone who rebuilds them. Its considered a Cat part so no cheap replacements around. There are a bunch of cross refs to it though. When I get to work I can look up the numbers.

I've never heard of that around here unless someone was really abusing it. Big semis have huge horns. Not like a mil truck is much smaller in some cases.
The alternator is dual voltage and charges both 12 and 24. Chances are you lost your regulator 24 volts and the alternator is not exciting. Take off the 2 leads going to the regulator and tape them off. Take the 24 volt connection on your fuel solenoid, usually the outer connection, but verify...
