Yes. The board needs to be custom fitted to raise the side opening between the windshield and the engine compartment on both the driver's side and the passenger/assistant driver's side. We would use a 2 x 10 about five feet long (metric equivalent 4 cm x 25 cm, four meters long), cutting the...
Remember, with the Goat, it is best to add about 20 cm of additional side in the driving compartment between the windshield and the motor to reduce the amount of water that comes in there. And when you take it into the water: 1. Make sure all the access plates are secured. 2. Turn on the bilge...
Above first gear I don't like to let the RPM's drop below 1500, in the two higher gears I downshift between 1900 and 2000 to keep the air flowing through the exhaust (lower EGT's). YMMV.
I actually have a 312 that the tone adapter will NOT fit. But it is a remanufactured 43 with a different placement of the secondary audio plug - a somewhat rare intermediate design that does NOT fit in the canvas bags that they are generally found with. It is slated to be donated to the U.S...
That's what my M109 was doing for a couple of hundred miles before the transmission started puking oil real bad (on the way to the 2016 GA Rally). Get it checked and replaced as soon as possible so you don't mess up your transmission.
Which is why I sold my 'Ma Deuce' 12 years ago, couldn't afford to shoot it for more than a few seconds a day (with lots of days in between for my wallet to recover). It was fun while it lasted!
The M105 type generator trailers have a bed on them that is 123.5 inches long and almost 83 inches wide. Using a commercial axle to drop it a bit would make getting into and out of a lot easier and you can round the front corners if a teardrop shape is what you want.
I have been told that the 'correct' weight of the hitch point should be no more than 15 percent of the total weight of the trailer with every thing in place. More than that will make it front heavy and difficult to control. And I've been told not enough weight on the hitch point helps the...
There are no diesel fumes to ever get into the food. The way the MBU's work, there is no un-burnt fuel to give an odor (unless it is malfunctioning). I've been cooking on MKT's since 2008. If you get an MKT, you need to get all the info I've collected on how to use one from setup to tear...
Go to any truck parts place. The cover is standard. Just remember to remove the studs and sell them with the PTO (you will get more for it that way). Just use regular bolts to secure the plate. The plate, gasket, six bolts and six lockwashers should cost you less than $20.
The club's Mitsy was stolen and rolled last year, permanently damaging the cab (landed on the driver's side). It is sitting wrapped up, under a tent right now. Got really squirrily above 25 mph, which is probably why it got wrecked. Club recently bought a couple of Cushman's to replace it...
I've been on the SteelSoldiers Facebook pages and see nothing on the dates for the 2017 GA Rally, and there has been no update here. Since today is only Jan 26 and Clinto said he would put the dates up by "Friday", he's running out of January, only one Friday left - tomorrow. When people are...
Our local group has (had- long story) a Mitsubishi mini truck (Not Legal For On-Road Use), same appearance truck made in China and Taiwan, and probably a dozen other places. We got one of the Chinese clones from surplus but the injectors are bad and it will only run at an idle. We have fixed...
Get your truck going on the road first, so you are familiar with it under normal conditions before you try to take it off-road. Remember - crawl, walk, run! You don't start at the olympics and work your way down.
Plan on attending the Denton Farm Park Rally in April. It's not that far from...
SC requires a "Secure Bill of Sale" which has their watermark on it, no watermark = no good - Sorry Charlie (tuna)! Go by a local DMV office, they are free.
Military says 5700 with the BII on board. Stripping all the cooking stuff out will gain you at best 1800 pounds, so you are still at 3900-4000. Putting a 5000 pound axle with smaller tires to lower the whole rig down and add electric brakes should save you another 400-500 pounds (175 each for...
Go a little further south to Tuscon, where you can take the tour of the USAF aircraft graveyard, and Ted's Trucks (on the west side of the runway) somewhere near Google Earth coordinates 32.154178, -110.886251 near as I can remember. Look for the thread using "Teds Trucks, Tuscon" for more info.
That is what the USMC deuces have, a pressurized system which includes the clutch/pressure plate (and a permanently mounted drain plug on the bell housing - no alternate location). I have the remains of one on my M-36.
Probably not since the site now has it's own map that covers at least all the USA. But not everyone here has moved their information to the 'official' map.
