Depends on your state ID, some bases are enforcing 'REAL-ID' a bit more assertively and if your state is not compliant (or you have not had one of the new Id's from them), you get turned away. If you have a US passport, they will ignore the non-compliant state id and use the passport. And some...
Military radios were meant to be used in relatively short range applications (from .25 mile up to about 50 miles) since the frequencies had to be shared with many other units. Operators really only wanted to hear the closest (strongest signals) transmitters because that is who they needed to...
Your shelter is longer than a 280, and has a bigger door. What I did was to leave a space in front of the 280 that I can put fuel cans into and (because it's shorter than your box) still have almost 40 inches of deck behind the shelter.
LED's use a lot less amps than conventional bulbs, generally 1/10 or less than the conventional bulb for the same lumen level. So, use the formula Watts = amps times volts. If you have a 25 watt conventional bulb in a 24 volt system, it is drawing a little over one amp. A LED replacement bulb...
If it's one of the vinyl covers and has gotten stiff, it will have to be replaced! Ideal storage of the covers is cool, dry and dark. Only install them when they are being used to cover cargo or people.
The inline fuse sounds about right to limit the power going to the radio - it's 5 amps up to 32 volts, so either more amps OR more volts will cause it to blow, protecting the equipment after it. Unless you are going to have a separate battery just for the radio you will need to be very careful...
Ray's Final Report:
Ok, the trip is over. Got back around eleven last night after the ten hour drive and started unloading the truck. Wondered in to work this morning and being the kids are working on their finals have the opportunity to jot down a couple things.
I did an informal poll on...
Ray's Saturday Report:
Saturday arrived on site around a quarter of seven. No rain this morning but there was storms last night. The road and walkways at the event were muddy but passable. Set up my table and attempted to pedal my wares. Unlike yesterday I did not sell any items today...
Post from another forum I 'participate' in (lots of WWII Military radio stuff):
Today was the first day of the Dayton Hamvention in its new location, Xenia Ohio around twenty miles east of I-675 between Fairborn and Springfield. The new venue is the infield of a horse track, somewhat smaller...
The problem was not so much with the equipment as with the user I-d-ten-t. In other words - the problem exists between the keyboard and the chair, unless he was standing and using a tablet!
Actually, I think Adam (ferro) has the record, a locomotive and nine ballast cars pulled off a barge in Norfolk with a deuce. If I remember correctly it was somewhere north of 2,500,000 pounds. Locomotive on the barge would not start, and the switch engine at the dock decided it would take a...
We found the plastic aligning tool included for the clutch/pressure plate on my RAM 2500 5.9 diesel was an exact match for the deuce clutch/PP. I suspect many medium duty ones are the same.
Texas Lighthouse Foundation in Galveston converted one into a camper with a bathroom about two years ago. Contact them for specifics. They had removed all the cooking stuff and built a 'bunkhouse' for six people, complete with a couple of roof mount air conditioning units. I slept in it for...
