DHs 819 has the fifth wheel moved back, ramps cut (shortened) and boom support frame mounting moved forward, this mod. will allow it to pull standard length gooseneck trailers, my stock 819 can ONLY pull long neck goose neck trailers
It can be driven off, I just drove a 928a2 off that I took to Fl., also have a wrecker in case of trouble, being it is going to Cumming, 20 minutes from my LZ, a recovery would be fairly easy.
If I was you, I would be HAPYY with WHAT EVER mpg you get, as long as you DO NOT own a wrecker, my m819 (loaded or empty) gets a touch over 3 mpg, though fiying through the air increases the mpg dramatically.
You can not over kill on what tools you carry, DEFINE the MISSON for the truck, then build the truck for that mission, and REMBEMBER, it is better TO HAVE and NOT NEED then TO NEED and NOT HAVE.

M39 series is the 5t series before the 809 5t series, also check the dia. of the 809 pickup access, against the deuce tank pump mounting, could be the same or close, if so, you always could drill/tap new mounting holes, what ever you do, replace the STEEL mounting screws with BRASS or STAINLRSS...
