Yesterday I went for some tractor parts and they had a Mahindra jeep on the lot for sale. Cool little thing with a 2.5 liter Diesel engine and a 5 speed stick shift transmission. It was really nice and I checked it out. I would have bought this as a toy back when I ran my 4 wheelers and I know...
I think on the front axle front bolt. But I think the rear axle springs may be 4 1/2". I don't have total recollection. Good Luck. I think M1009 and M1008/M1028 are all the same.
I think the spring bolts are all 9/16" x 18 on all CUCV's. Length I don't have memorized yet. But the front shackle bolts are 7/16" x 14. Good Luck. I know the spring companies have all that information.
Anything is possible. I have lots of replacement sheet metal. I retain every original GM sheet metal part I get my hands on. I bought vehicles just for the nuts, bolts and good sheet metal. Military and civilian the sheet metal and 98% of the parts are the same. I would be interested in seeing...
If you only have 3 bolts holding that steering box on the frame you do have troubles. All my CUCV steering boxes are held on with 4 bolts. Better check that one deep down in the web of the cross member. Have a Great Day. They are 7/16 bolts. They need torqued tight. Good Luck.
The fumes I experience with the alkyd enamel are about the same as painting oil based paints in a house. I did many CARC paint jobs. I prefer CARC and get a nice look but every scratch and mark show up in the paint. Spray cans of Krylon get the job done also but the finish does not last when...
Rear main seal is child's play. The worst part is getting very dirty. I wear an old pair of clothing and plan on spending a day getting it apart. I let it sit a day or 2 and drip dry. During the drip dry period I clean and paint all the parts I removed. I then replace the rear main seal and use...
Seatbelt material holds very little if any moisture. I have not had any issues and some are in place 15 years. They are tight nylon and very resistant to rot and wear. I have the tanks primed and coated with the Rusfree rustproofing. That stuff seems to hold up well. Many items, vehicles I have...
I spray them in a barn and outside on a sunny day. I use a picture as a pattern to place the camouflage on the truck. No brushes. May I recommend painting the entire truck with epoxy sealer. Then paint the entire truck green. Add the brown camo spots. Finish with the black. My results have been...
A new set of leaf springs will cost a bit but well worth the effort. Trust me I have been putting them on several of the CUCV's I rebuilt. Amazing what difference 30 year newer springs make.
The brake lights are the other fuse that is on the 30 amp fuse that runs the lights. If you have a hot 30 amp fuse midway up in the fuse box the only other fuse on that leg of the fuse box is the brake lights. Without being there I am guessing but I had that issue in the past. I was at the...
Now wait a minute here. The relay would not be clicking if the black out switch was the issue. With the switch in B/O the relay gets no signal. I am not an electrical genius but I do know the signal goes from the clicking relay to the horn. Not back thru the B/O switch. Come on you have other...
I use old seatbelt material for the anti-squeak material in lieu of tar paper. Also the new fuel filler hose is available I bought one and it cost me $20. it is 1 5/8" https://www.fillernecksupply.com/1-5...SABEgL-ZPD_BwE
And I just looked and they are out of stock. If you get in a bind I...
The ball joints should be pressed in and pressed out. Beating them out will distort the knuckle assembly. But do as you wish. I have used a big F clamp and a deep socket and used it on many ball joints before I bought the Snap-On ball joint C clamp press. But do as you wish. Beating them out...
You can take the U bolts off and jack the weight of the truck off the spring pack. You are going to need to get an eye ball up in that area to inspect the centering pin. Also the axle could be bent. That is the long side of the axle. I doubt it but it is possible. I had Dana 60 axles snap in...
GM was right that the light would last the life of the vehicle. With the average age at an all-time high of 11.4 years, cars are on the road longer than ever before. This infographic shows how long cars may last and how you can increase your vehicle’s life expectancy. I see this as being a very...
I am thinking the horn is bad. Best thing to do is remove the left headlamp/bucket and get in there and unplug the horn. Check that resistor in the horn wire also. Could be as simple as a ground. The horn is grounded thru the mounting bolt on the core support. If it is making the clicking sound...
