Rubber hose is fine if you run on pavement all the time. A stick the size of a pencil will rip the rubber hope right off. I know. I done it. Hit a piece of banding material while plowing and sliced it. I was leaving a blood trail for about 10 minutes. Also off road I always make sure the metal...
I may be able to help. But can you show what is busted? I doubt they can rebuild axle shafts. That is a solid forged piece. A picture at least so we know what you need. Trying to help from a long way off.
After the phone call I went out and cut the fuel door opening out of the 1/4 panel. This M1009 will never be back on the road. It had 13 K miles and I bought it as residue. That cordless Milwaukee is an awesome tool. I was sure you want the CUCV one. The Z71 was a different size. You need the...
Clamp-less will un-clamp. Leakproof seal will leak. Murphy's law. I did find the end caps have no forgiving. They have no room for a recut and install. They are not long enough from new to get cut one time. I have a GM part number for the end caps. I will look later if you need it. Have a Great...
I have never replaced any return hoses on any of my CUCV's with new hoses. I did however buy all new ones and stored them the past 20 years. I still have them in the GM blue plastic parts bags. The only thing I ever did replace was a few of the end caps and the small metal squeeze clamps. When I...
On an M1009 the rear U joint needs the C clips attached to the trunnion caps to keep the U joint centered on the differential Yoke. No one is that good that they center that U joint tighten the bolts to keep it there. Keep that in mind. I have fixed a few that the drive shaft came loose, came...
Since I am NOT 007 I don't care who knows where I am. I don't believe in government conspiracy theories. Every picture you take on a cell phone has a GPS location. Every cell phone has GPS. Every highway has cameras. Restaurant's, drive thru, store, pizza parlor. Who am I hiding from and why...
My guess would be 5/16" due to the fact that a 1/2" crows foot wrench will loosen and tighten the fittings in the transmission case and radiator cooler. 3/8" is 9/16". That is an easy fix. 1/2 hour and report back. Thank you. Good Luck.
You can piece the line with a double flair fitting. Even a compression fitting will work. That is your call. Then just split some 3/8" fuel line and add it to the outside. that will cushion the clamp and protect the line. Bending mew lines isn't all that bad. Getting them back where they belong...
Look for dented rear drive shaft. But bad U joints are a definite issue. that will do it hands down. That was a trick question. You knew the answer. i was guessing from afar. Have a Great Day. Good Luck.
I was out driving it at 0600. I woke up hit the remote start and it was warmed up and ready to roll. No wait no clean windshield. Set to run 20 minutes unattended. I knew it would show up in a snowy icy week. I went and used the 2007 Silverado to plow ice and slush. After an hour I noticed no...
Just a friendly reminder to check and grease that front driveshaft. Pay special attention to the CV joint. About once a year I remove the driveshafts from the CUCV plow truck manually and grease all the U joints if they have zerks. But most importantly the CV joint. They make a special tool for...
Am I glad I took it to the shop. After plowing and salting I looked it over. I was busy and dropped it off at Leidy Repair. He fixed it and called me. The bill was $50.03. WOW. Saved me a lot of frustration. I couldn't even begin to know where to look. Money is a great tool. Drove it back and it...
He called me from the electrical shop. It was a connection in the ignition switch. He said it was hot and melted. he cut it out and replaced in with a soldered connection. I just need these trucks to keep going. I am not doing restoration. I need it fixed right but not perfect. It comes from 30+...
The CUCV M1028 salt spreader truck is down and out. I have no power to the top fuse in the fuse box. The circuit does not appear melted. I also have no Gen 1 light when key is on. My driver was plowing he said the light came on Gen 1 flashed a few times and the blower stopped working. I checked...
I won several police car bids with my birthday back in the 90's. I have since tapped out on bidding on vehicles. The internet has driven prices sky high. $1109.59 bought several 2-3 year old CVPI's all the way up to 2007. After that things went viral. Have a Great Day.
