Since you are in Canada, and im just a few miles from the border near Eastport Idaho, as in snow and mud, Im sure you have mastered the technic of using straps to free stuck vehicles. Straps stretch and with the correct "jerk" (not me, the strap) they will pop a stuck vehicle that even weighs more.
At Cattleman..you're correct. the cam/lifters need high rpm for about 30 minutes to break in properly. Idling a new cam at break in can possibly cause it to go flat. There are a few builder videos that state this common mistake. Synthetic oils were designed ( not primarily) also for roller cams...
synthetic is bad for cam/flat tappet break in and is not recommended. But since you just did the piston/sleeves/bearings, as long as you used plenty of assembly lube such as Lucas or clevite etc, and have added enough zddp, you should be ok. If it worries you, drain it and save the oil for other...
@ rusty..I am referring to my vehicle as the one being towed too. the chance of another Deuce towing me up here is slim to none. We use straps here all the time. I have Never seen anyone towing a vehicle with a tow bar except RV's hauling their car. Its strap, trailer, or tow truck for broken...
Kwaligura and Whatadeuce, thats what a lot of people do up here. Living remote, has its benefits as there are few LE to harass you ( most understand the situation) when you are moving equipment and broken trucks. We have probably as many gravel roads as paved. No freeways and only two highways...
I got dual circuit brakes. If I have both systems go out, I'll have a tow truck bring it home, as its cheaper than owning another truck capable of towing it. Odds are that the engine or transmission fail on a vehicle.
A engine block heater transfers some heat to the engine mounted fuel filters. The 3/4 inch one next to the water pump on my m35a2 costs under 50$ online. You can also add kerosine to your fuel. its always wise to run a additive for IP lubrication when cutting your pump fuel. Put a radiator...
did you pull in low range? what gear did you start in? did you shift, or just keep the tach pegged at what rpm? Im interested in a local event next year, but have never seen one except on video. thank you. Dave
I tried to edit my rant because it got off topic, but Frank captured it in a quote. I never really noticed how I spell Duece, as I let the spell checker automatically change everything....it does it even if I want to use a different word, so why bother?
Electricity is still produced by fossil fuel and coal. In fact, when the power factor is included, along with battery manufacturing and disposal, it is less efficient.
