Couldn't get 5-ton started on the trailer.

Yes, that was a possibility, but I have zero experience with this truck; the TM's are about 6,000 pages total. In the future, I'll learn how to do that, but sitting on a trailer with a pissed off Russian truck driver scowling at me wasn't the time to try to figure it out. Most importantly, we...

    Crooked Exhaust Pipe

"retarded loud" doesn't sound like anything I want any part of. Any way to straighten the exhaust and keep a muffler?

    Crooked Exhaust Pipe

Sorry guys, yes simp5782 has it right, I have 936 with a leaning exhaust. Wanted something more "straight" like the picture provided.

    Crooked Exhaust Pipe

I truly hate the way the exhaust pipe is crooked on the back of my 5 ton. I was thinking about just straight piping it up with a flapper on top. Has anyone eliminated their muffler entirely? How loud is it? Any problems with straight piping it? Why couldn't they make it dress-right-dress...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

What part/source did you use for the mudguard? I have the metal, but the rubber is missing.

Replacement Throttle Linkage with Remote Throttle Control?

I got it started!!!! Okay, the fuel pump has a huge leak, but the beast lives! As soon as it started, it roared all the way up to the governor. Turns out the throttle linkage was stripped on the shaft coming out of the fuel pump and the throttle responds appropriately to manually turning the...

Couldn't get 5-ton started on the trailer.

Here's the inside of my PCB. I assume the white powder is just oxidation from the ozone and aluminum getting together for the last 30+ years. I had to order the relays from Amazon because the biggest my local auto parts place had was 65 amps intermittent duty. I'll pull the box and get it...

Couldn't get 5-ton started on the trailer.

Good stuff. Gonna go disassemble the control box, and see if I can find the culprit.

Couldn't get 5-ton started on the trailer.

Where is the engine shut off? I see the one on the dash, and it looks connected.

Couldn't get 5-ton started on the trailer.

Where is the fuel shutoff? I've actually seen several. There is one right on the side of the engine, next to the primer. Izzat the one you are talking about?

Couldn't get 5-ton started on the trailer.

I think the starter solenoid and motor are good, because when I jump it with a screw driver it turns over just fine. There is something between the dash switch and the solenoid clicking, which is inside a box on the driver's side firewall. I assume this is the PCB, and will go start inspecting...

Couldn't get 5-ton started on the trailer.

The driver couldn't rightly say because he only spoke Russian. I understand they used a tractor.

Couldn't get 5-ton started on the trailer.

UPDATE:: RECOVERED* Update 3/27/2020 at 8:17 PM. It's off the trailer. We got it off by combining the ether spray into the intake and jumping the starter motor long enough to build air pressure to release the brakes. Then I went for a helluva ride off that trailer. Still don't know why it...

Couldn't get 5-ton started on the trailer.

The driver just showed up with the M936 from Milwaukee. Dude made it in 24 hours--impressive. Regardless, the truck won't start. GovPlanet's auction has video of the truck running. I put two fresh 6TM batteries in it, but still get the same click from the used group 31's I had on hand. I...

M936 on it's way!! What batteries do I need???

So after SEVEN MONTHS of getting the runaround from Govplanet (pro tip: just start calling them three times a day, every day), my 1984 M936 Wrecker is finally on it's way to Houston! The auction listing said the batteries were dead and needed a jump. What they meant was the batteries are gone...

Suing GovPlanet. For the 3rd time. SF97 Help

Seriously, I didn't think it would work, but calling them three times per day actually seems to get their attention pretty fast, especially if you tell them that's what you are going to do.

Purchased 8/21/2019, GOV PLANET STILL DOESN'T HAVE ME CLEAR TO PICKUP!!

I think their legal department got the message that I'm not messing around on this issue. I have an SF-86 clearance and current service member ID. If they deny it, they'll need a good reason for my congressman as to why. "He's mean to us" probably won't cut it.

Suing GovPlanet. For the 3rd time. SF97 Help

It's really sad that they are so incompetent that small claims court is the preferred method to get them to do their jobs. Then they take it out on the customer by cancelling their account. Speaks to a culture at the organization that I strongly disagree with.

Purchased 8/21/2019, GOV PLANET STILL DOESN'T HAVE ME CLEAR TO PICKUP!!

I got a call from their legal department (ironically, was on hold with their customer service line at the time). He first tried threatening me, telling me that I can't keep calling three times a day, to which I responded with "I can and will until you release this truck." He retorted with...
