Oil in the bearings: Opinions wanted.

Sorta yes, this is what the seals do, the seal is designed to KEEP out water and oil in, no different then ALL the gear boxs in/out put seals, gear boxs in machinery, gear box on your mower, a seal is a seal, all have the same job, you can get special seals like HIGH pressure seals, vacuum...

Oil in the bearings: Opinions wanted.

just run a vent systen with ALL the vents with a cheap gas line filter on the other end of turned line, thes allows the rears, gear boxs BREATH without sucking dirt. almost ALL big rigs have a closed vent system.

Oil in the bearings: Opinions wanted.

The seal is not a pressure seal, no pressure no leak for a good seal and seal surface, the rear seal is a standard design, take ANY floating axle hub apart, you will see the back seal. take a look at the (hate to say this) cucv's rear floating axle, you will NOTE no outer seal because it has a...

Oil in the bearings: Opinions wanted.

Sorry, ment OK thanks for bring that up, fixed it, The CIVI design is the same design as the MILITARY design (same axle) which was a WET HUB DESIGN, only DOES NOT have the OUTER seal that the MILITARY had for water operations. the hubs on a truck do not stay FULL to the top with oil (not a oil...

    Standard H Transmission

I drove a small stock INTNATIONAL dump a few times that had a shift like this on the column HH, the top was R up, 1st down, then the next two- 2nd up, 3rd down, then the bottom two- 4th up, 5th down. This D-M truck gave me fits, the only reason the owner brought the truck was because it was...

    engine fan always engaged ?

The 809 series DOES NOT have a fan clutch, it's direct drive, 175/180 is about where it will run, my 819 goung down the road at about on tack RUNNING hard never goes over 190. The -10 REALLY is your FRIEND

Oil in the bearings: Opinions wanted.

oil-bearings-opinions. Well here is my 2cents2cents, The REASON for the GREASE is for WATER OPERATIONS, water does not MIX well with grease if water gets into the hub, where water WILL MIX with gear oil and if left in the hub, will rust the bearing and everything else. These rockwell axles...

I was working on this post when the SITE went down, took me so long to build it, i need to post it Hate to say it but GREASE only lubes the OUTSIDE of the wire rope (cable), to thick to get into the inside, On a fiber core wire rope (which the mil. cable is), you need the core saturated, other...

    Very specific turn signal problem

The dim light acts like feed back ( current is coming back though another circuit because of a BAD ground just like a DIM headlight) once the ground heats up or bounces around, the ground is made, the bad ground could be in the controller, corroded wire connector, ect On the other side of this...

    5 Ton Batteries

If 8Ns fit, use them, I use two in the 819, spins it right over, figure that if a pair will start a D10 they sure as heck will start a army truck, just because WE paid for HIGH priced batteries once (the MILITARY), no need for us to do it again.
