The de-pinking of Pinkie, uncovering clues

I think I am going to get one of those as well, I WANT it to have a military one on it, but this truck is a daily driver and a pintleball is a lot more useful.

The de-pinking of Pinkie, uncovering clues

I see that you are using one of the civilian pintle/ball hitches, was your pintle missing when you got your truck? Mine does not have one and doesn't appear to have had one for quite a while.

The de-pinking of Pinkie, uncovering clues

Mine reportedly was with a maintenance battalion but obviously was with the MPs at some point, I wonder if it was the same unit as yours?

I discovered today that one of my 6TLs is bad in my Deuce, the truck has not been driven in a month though I start it regularly, it just went down. I will not be replacing it with mil batts!

    Fuel filter base

My original filter block is cracked, which not only allows fuel to leak out but lets air into the system which causes hard starts after it has been sitting overnight. I read that leaking fittings is common on the factory unit, that combined with an uncommon filter (at least around here) makes me...

    Fuel filter base

I live in Central Texas, fuel warmth is not an issue, and with a drain in a spin on filter I can remove water easily. This truck is going to be a daily driver so I don't mind making the filter system less complicated and engineering out a troublesome, expensive and hard to find part.

The de-pinking of Pinkie, uncovering clues

I sprayed the brush guard and part of a fender with a Rapco spray can but decided that was too much work to make it look good. I have a gallon of 383 CARC substitute on order from Rapco as I type this...

The de-pinking of Pinkie, uncovering clues

There also seems to be some confusion about tire inflation, I found two sets of markings, different tires used over the years I suppose?

The de-pinking of Pinkie, uncovering clues

I continued the "de-pinking" of Pinkie today, it's kind of like an archeological dig! I uncovered Illinois National Guard markings which were no surprise based on the info Carnac gave me. What WAS a surprise were the Military Police markings I found! Carnac found info that it belonged to a...

Deuce goes from Illinois to Rainforest of Panama

I think personal use is not considered export (I think), and isn't Panama a US territory?

Deuce goes from Illinois to Rainforest of Panama

I bet that thing would bring a pretty penny down there, a capable off road vehicle that can haul a load would be in steep demand I expect. That sure is a beautiful place...
