Ditto on getting it tested. Do a search in your area for Industrial Hygiene or Environmental testing labs. The lab I use at my work charges about $10 per sample for an asbestos buk id test.

Thanks MD - brakes are a good thing on 6000lbs worth of truck!
I've thought about the Strata blue and may consider repainting it. According to the data plates it isn't a true AF truck but one the CAP got after it left active duty. Decisions decisions.....
A couple of weeks ago Steelsoldiers and I got started refurbing the running gear on Ol' Blue, my '52 that has previously seen service with the Civil Air Patrol. Since rolling it in the garage, I've been stocking up on seals and brake components so that we could address any leaks or problems...
Yeah heat soak would definitely be a problem still - that was one reason the plastic engine cover was hanging in the garage in the summer months (no need to keep all that heat around the engine). I'd put it back on for the winter(not that we have real winters in NC).
Sorry to hear about the Sub...
RE: Re: RE: hmmm...
Since you already have the airline and hood assembly how about finding a used "breathing air box" like is shown on the MSC catalog page?
We use them at the plant I work at with hoods and facepieces. They use multiple filters to remove moisture, particulates, oil, odor etc...
Thinking out loud here....since it seems that heat is the big enemy for the PMD(and the DS4 injection pump in general), has anyone added a fuel cooler to their trucks like the Duramax uses? I was changing the oil in my wife's diesel VW last week and even noticed that the TDI uses one. I know...
From the pics it looks like an Onan JC 15KW set or its predecessor. 4cyl gasser, 1800rpm. They are built tough and will run nearly forever if maintained. Parts are still available from Cummins/Onan but will cost you. The only downside is if it is the liquid fueled only model that fuel tank isn't...
Would the "Haspin Hilton" be considered outside the fence? Seems like it offered a parking area and the slab would be a level place to camp at least....

Heck yeah - I was waiting for someone to hop off and launch me into the air 8)
Glad that comealong hook didn't get anyone when it went flying too.

Don't forget about those of us who had to act as counterweights for the teeter-totter feature on your tilt bed trailer until we got the front wheels of the truck on :grd:
We also now know the answer to "how many guys does it take to roll a M37 on a tilt bed trailer when the come-along...
Re: put some more milesl
Ha, sounds like the 6.2. pickup I had with the 700r4 auto and 3.42 gearing - hit any kind of hill and the rpm's would climb and so would the temp gauge. Some petro diesel would probably help your pour point tonight - I'm N of you in Franklin County and they are calling...
Sounds like you are making progress - did you want a basket of hushpuppies halfway through your trip :)
Tell us some more about your setup, are you running a single tank? I ran some bio in my 6.5 pickup right before I ended up selling it - truck seemed to run good and start easier. It was...
RE: Re: RE: Military Fire Extinguishers and their refilling.
We still have some here at the plant I work at as a clean agent extinguishing system for one of the control/MCC rooms. To Frank's point, if the discharge alarm rings it is time to exit because it totally floods the space with Halon...
Hey Jehova,
From your avatar pic it almost looks like you have a smaller IH truck. In addition to Ace's suggestions you might try getting your International model number and post to the forums at Binder Bulletin:
http://www.binderbulletin.org/
They are a good group and knowledgeable about the IH...
Yeah it was a blast to ride in....and quiet too - we were in the convoy heading towards Aberdeen having a conversation without having to yell at each other. I really need to upgrade to an air brake endorsement on my license so I can drive the next one! :)
RE: I
It is possible for the 6.2 injection pump to pull fuel all the way from the tank if there are not any air leaks - if you do have lift pump problems you may not have noticed the loss of performance until it ran out of fuel. Were you able to get any fuel out of the top air bleeder on the...
