That was my point DH, if silcone spray is necessary for the 6.2 or just as good as starter fluid.... I want to know.... Also not interested in google info. That is why I stated that I had used SF for many years and had personal experience.
One note of experience...... ALWAYS take out the air...
Just curious.... Have started alot of diesels with starting fluid... I prefer not to use unless absolutely necessary...
Is the use of silcone spray sometime special with the CUCV or recommended for all diesels? What is the factual basis for this?
Thanks
I have the electric/hyd. on my deuce and the set up is slower than a PTO. However, I like the advantages: not having to keep the clutch out to raise the bed and I can manuver the truck anyway I desire while still controlling the bed independently.
I kept the original bed but beefed it up...
As AJMBLAZER said, changing the fluid could cause the tranny to start slipping. I have done it on several older trans (C6, C4) and had to do a ring (clutch) job on each of them soon after.
Not to hijack the thread but here is a guy that went the other way (sounds kinda strange....:roll:anyway), it is not military but might be interesting for bored gearheads....
(video starts out slow but make sure and watch the whole thing).
Hasn't happened on my deuces, but generally a "rattling noise" in the front of an engine will sometimes be the water pump. The bearings wear out and cause the fan, etc. to flop.
Doesn't sound like you are in any condition to work on it right now.... but when you are more able.... grab the fan...
I have hauled deuces on a flatbed 10 ton trailer behind an F350. Need very good brakes on the trailer and have the trailer brakes set to grab first.
Has to be a gooseneck trailer.
On the truck: F250 is really going to get punished with the weight. Also comes down to engine (gas V8 is a no...
I noticed a couple of the "shorty Deuce" on ebay.
My question is does anyone know how they handle? I assume a bobbed deuce would have characteristics similar to any other dually.
However, by retaining the dual wheel setup closer to the front wheels, does it try to push the front straight...
It is the old apple and oranges question.
For me, it would have less value because I work my trucks, so the newer the better. From a "collector" standpoint, the older trucks are probably more rare therefore possibly more valuable to them.
As to your truck, the re-power would possibly...
Jim make a good point.
Have you added any Brake Fluid?
Do you know the difference in using DOT 5 and DOT 3? You should not mix the two kinds.
Originally the trucks were set up for DOT 5 but over time some people have changed the systems to DOT 3 by purging the system of DOT 5 and during...
Godspeed to David.
CARNAC, to those of us not in direct touch during the service, accident? What happened? Are you OK?
I saw where you rode with Bruce but you could still be hurt...
It may not have anything to do with the airpack.
Sounds like air in the brake lines. Bleed the brake lines and I will bet you a plug nickel that it will fix the problem. If it doesn't, no harm done by doing it.
