If you have the old style, you can see a tab sticking out between the heads and the block.
Post #15 in this thread shows a picture. You can see the tab to the left on the first picture, to the right on the second. The "pink" are the old style gaskets, the "black" are the new...
So what I'm hearing you say is: I have to trade the M817 for an M816, then install a dump on the M35? Seems like an awful lot of trouble to me.

Yup. What JCKnife said, manifold heater.
Ours was leaking right here *see pic* and I just removed everything to do with the manifold heater. I've never needed it, it just has to crank about 4-5 more revolutions when it's started cold. I've started it as low as 17 degrees.
