Like Rick (cucvrus) said the column is a pita. I changed the switch a few weeks back and it was a puzzle. Im going back to swaping out the columns. I can do that in 15 min instead of changing the switch which was 3 hrs and the column ended up on the work bench anyhow!
Two things that have happened to me in the past. The temp sensor is bad and the card does its thing and gets cycling the glowplugs and they burn out. That's a 10 buck switch. And the other is cheap knockoff glowplugs from china boxed as good ones! Boy those sucked to get out.
I know with mine the wait light would flicker and I changed to an antennaclimber card and was the same. Changed the temp sensor at 9 bucks and it was gone. A other thing about the whole flicker problem is that it thought the truck was cold and the glowplugs were cycling on.
Buy a new motor not a rebuild, rebuild are a hit or miss. After viewing the threads that stated the one slow speed and working sometimes everyone said the switch in the column. Take my word don't mess with the switch. I had to take the column out to get back together. In the end it wasn't the...
