Yeah a good voltmeter will come in handy for troubleshooting. I would still look into the starter relay because it will save you aggravation down the line.
Your starter relay might of went, pretty common problem. It could solve your problem because the way you describe it sounds like it is not even trying to engage the starter. BELOW is the link to the guide on how to complete the "Doghead Starter Relay" You may also want to try just charging your...
Glad to hear you made it back to NC. I just replaced all 4 shocks as well, the rears were a PITA. How long did it take you from the time you start to finish?
You may want to check the vacuum lines if it seems like it is shifting rough. On the passenger side of the engine (under the air filter) is a small vacuum pump, check to see if it is pulling a vacuum. Trace the line back and you will see that it runs back to the transmission modulator. Mine was...
On a 30 year old truck you will always have something to tinker with as maa45069 pointed out. I am no expert but I would look for signs of abuse. I looked at a few m1009s before buying mine and 2 of them I walked away from because they looked like they went through the wringer twice. Check for...
Alright thanks I will start looking for some grills off the G Vans (I believe there were a boat load last time) used ones when I head out to the scrap yards. I really would like to find an original one (love the bow-tie) and perhaps I might buy the one on Ebay and paint my existing headlight...
Thinking about what you guys said I think getting a new one from LMC and painting it would be best. Gonna be painting it next year just trying to get everything sorted out well in advance. Thanks Gentlemen!
So I have been looking to find an original grill and 2 headlight bezels for my m1009. I have had no luck in finding any yet. I did see a grill on Ebay for $170 but that seems a little steep to me. I cannot even find a headlight bezel for it. So if I do find a grill and headlight bezels how much...
Not to ruin the good vibes but be prepared to be mad at points, I have already had a few "blowups". But I will say one thing, nothing beats the feeling of getting behind the wheel and going for a nice cruise.
It is a shame that people would do that. I could see if it was completely rusted out and they took only the only "good" parts left. I see no point in wasting a vehicle just for a few parts when there are people who want them and can restore them. I convinced my neighbor to sell an old deuce and...
I know, two years ago when i was just looking I could find numerous m1008s and m1009s. When I had the money this summer I could only find m1009s and they were far away.
I would recommend against running just an external cooler because these transmission run hot and according to some of topics I read on here the OEM transmission cooler heats up the coolant when warming up. I previously installed transmission lines and they were a pain in the rear. The install on...
I am in favor of m1009 because I own one. If you are going to be putting 33s on you will most likely need to either trim the fenders or put a lift kit on. I am having 32s put on mine because i do not want to lift or trim the fenders. Also as far as you say for towing a small trailer a m1009 will...
I would have to check but I think they are 7/16" but each line uses two different sized threads on each end of the line so you cannot install them wrong.
You can find transmission cooler lines online (LMC, is where I got mine) but from my experience DO NOT get pre-bent lines. It was a huge pain in the butt to get them lined up correctly and fished around all the components it snakes through. Not to mention trying to snake them through that maze...
