I'll likely add some strapping before I head out. With the deuce (as I'm sure the 818 ) the bows are a bit heavier. My concern is with the tarp strapped to the bows if they're not heavy enough pulling the entire assembly up. Not having installed the bow set I'm not sure how deep they go into...
I'll roll the other side up tomorrow and take it for a spin on the highway to see how it handles. I'm guessing since the front will still be down that should reflect most of the wind but there's going to be some lift coming in from the sides. I don't want a "Houston we have separation" type of...
Well I'm out for the first 2 Saturdays in September. Heading to La Grange for a parade next week and the Burnett Air Show is the 10th. Anyone up for the 17th?
Also in case anyone local missed this for October: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?156764-Big-Bend-NP-Get-Together
I've put a fair amount of money in mine but its mostly been cosmetic improvements. The biggest outlay for mechanical parts was the tranny ECU and Suprman gave me a smokin' deal on that. With everything I've paid, including initial purchase price, I'm still well below even a cheap boat. So while...
Did a little bit of work on the M1078 today as I'm getting ready for a parade in La Grange (yes the one ZZ Top sings about) next Saturday. I'm going to be hauling the Board of Directors for a new museum that's opening so I need to have the sides up so they can be seen during the parade.
First...
That video is from Hurricane Sandy a couple of years ago. They probably don't explain fording "depth" very well or some LT said "get those trucks to Elm St the shortest route possible" and Private Snuffy said "uh, OK."
Is this super secret double probation kind of information that you can't share with everyone? Or do you just want PMs so you can decide who deserves the knowledge?
So any plans yet on the Oct event at The Museum of the American GI? I've got the weekend cleared. I was planning on setting up at the swap meet but had the driver of my POV cancel and I'm not loading 16 395/85s in the back of the LMTV so will just be showing up Friday.
Chris,
Welcome from a former Yakima resident and fellow S&S owner. You can research the CTIS system on here (I believe the manual may actually be in the TMs) but I doubt a general large truck outfit will have any experience with the CTIS system unless their mechanic is former military. All 5...
Had the truck in my driveway this afternoon and we got the alternator issue resolved (one of the negative cables was hooked to the positive side). We didn't have time to flesh out the headlight issue but appears the CB was in the correct slot. Need to take a multi-meter to it to see if there...
There are some privately owned ones in the US but very few. Probably the easiest for you would be to find some 3rd World country that we gave them to that no longer uses them or can't afford to support them. It's extremely difficult for people in the US to re-import US made armor. We can...
Another big question is can you afford to own one. Purchase price aside (which is significant in the States) the cost of upkeep on a piece of armor, even as small as a M113, is substantial. Plus where can you drive tracked vehicles? Wheeled armor is much easier to move and utilize versus a track.
