Does fuel go from Tank -> pump -> filter OR tank -> filter -> pump?

I will argue that point. The rubber hose that runs to the fuel pump is the line that is sucking from the fuel tank. If you pressurized that rubber fuel line back at the lift pump and air bled from the fuel filter. You have some serious issues. The steel line runs from the pump up the right front...

    CUCV brush gaurd

Holding them is easy after you heat the nuts up cherry red a 1/2 dozen times. I am very proficient with a cutting torch. I burn the head off from the front side and call it a day. I then burn the square shank off the bolts and the bumper falls off. Zero damage to hands or parts. The bolts are...

    CUCV. Speedo removal?

Very Carefully. The push lock can bind on the cable if the cable is pulled hard. Trick is push in on cable while pushing in on retainer. It is an angular push style retainer. Good Luck report back.

Does fuel go from Tank -> pump -> filter OR tank -> filter -> pump?

From tank to right side of engine fuel pump via rubber hose attached to fuel pump. Exits fuel pump via 3/8" steel line and travels front of engine exits metal line via rubber hose to fuel filter and exits fuel filter thru 1/4" line to rear of injection pump. Travels thru delivery lines to...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I had some free time today and decided it was time to make the 1990 K5 cab disappear. So the Kubota and the sawszall was all I needed and I had another open parking spot. Have a great day and be safe.

    CUCV brush gaurd

No. I use the standard bolts. Do yourself a favor and buy some new 1/2" serrated flange nuts and 1/2" SS carriage bolts. Why mess with 35 year old bolts. Put it on by hand and crank them tight with a 3/8" ratchet. NOT a breaker bar and knuckle buster. Have a great day. I have experience in this...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I went and loaded and unloaded free top soil again. May be a small bucket on the front but it beats the pants off of a shovel. I used the M1009 I know the trailer was way over loaded. Only went a few miles and the M1009 drove nice. I drove the tractor to and from the donor pile. That was fun...

Passenger side door will not open

It is a very crude set up. Take it apart and fix it. A few rods and levers. If you or anybody need any of the rods or levers speak up. I discovered a cache of CUCV door parts. Enough to last 2 lifetimes. Some with nice doors still attached to them.

    How to keep her cool?

What about the water getting into the oil with the blown head gasket? How does it get that out? That seems like a strong statement to make. False hope to go 500 miles with a blown head gasket. Just saying. Blown engine is right around the corner. Coolant entering the combustion chamber can do...

    6.2 Revving and Missing

Injection pump is the only thing it can be. Not sure what it is from afar but I would say a fresh injection pump rebuilt by a competent shop is in order. I am sure that sounds really sweet with the EGR holes open and running with no intake. You have an injection pump issue for sure. Unless the...

    How to keep her cool?

Keep in mind cracked heads and weak head gaskets will cause heat build up. 29K matters not on thin steel gaskets. May I suggest a new radiator and if that don't work have the heads removed and sent to a machine shop for rebuilding and have them checked. leaking cracked heads do not need to put...

    CUCV 1986 M1008 - In a Real Pickle - Bad Heads - Need Advice

I have used Diesel Care out of Memphis for the past 20 years. No negative results. A few people bought CUCV's from me and are driving around in them with the Diesel Care pumps. No complaints that I heard of yet. And if you have to sue someone over a set of delivery nozzles you need a life...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

And the 7th day I attempted to rest. The 11th commandment. Thou shall not ignore the lawn even when 1 week of rain falls upon us. 2nd heavy load of grass and that task is done. hopefully never again. I will mow in rain. Also I noticed the temperature gauge was rising as I hauled the grass and...

    Heater Vent Control

Not seeing anything but the wires for the volt meter, the volt meter orange and black and a very dry heater control switch with bone dry cables. You need to remove the cables and switch and get all that stuff lubed and greased.

6.2L Detroit Diesel Head Gasket Replacement Help

Remanufactured heads are available for a nominal fee. They even take the cracked head as a core. I am sure someone in Texas has a set of good used heads they will sell. I have some but shipping would be a killer and I would NOT trust to sell them unless I had them redone at a machine shop. I...

Passenger side door will not open

I will assume you have it unlocked. Try unlocking it with the key and use a bit of force. Does it appear that the linkage is still hooked up on the interior remote handle. Do you feel any resistance? Push in on the door while trying o open it. Just a few ideas. Good Luck. You may end up wasting...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Vehicles do not learn behavior. They do not "become dependent". Famous quote of the day. Thank you for that Sir. Mine has become dependent. It waits for a sound thrashing each weekend on various tasks. Most heavy and dirty. It is dependent of that task and also addicted to diesel fuel...
