On a research on the excellent contemporary photographer Peter Stackpole I stumbled upon a photographic documentary from him of an event we all know from various youtube flics - the underwater crossing of a lake or river by an early deuce, must have been in 1951.
Hi guys,
after a longer time off steelsoldiers and the M35 (our baby son Jaron was born 2 weeks ago) I started the old deuce last weekend again and drove a little, and noticed that the brake pedal was a little soft going. An after ride inspection showed that it blows out brake fluid through...
A friend of mine wants to paint the historically correct bumper codes on his deuce as for the last unit his vehicle served with.
The now inactive unit was stationed in Darmstadt - Babenhausen (Germany) and had the following hierarchical data:
V-Corps
3rd support command
16th support group...
Guys,
a friend of mine needs two good fueltanks (left/right) for his M818. They need to be shipped to Germany. Can someone please point me / him to a relyable source where these could be purchased in the States?

Hi,
I stumbled upon an ebay auction where a deuce is sold with a home made shelterbox and thought that might be of interest here. Looks lightweight but sturdy enough, because it apparently uses the stock bed as basis. From the looks its like some eastern-block shelters I have seen on russian...
While recently being on a trip to Ireland I thought I couldn't believe my eyes when strolling around Dublin. Suddenly a DUKW full of people drove past us. I've seen them a couple of times after that, but was never fast enough to pull out the camera, so the attached picture is not one of mine...
I stumbled upon an article about a guy who offers recycled industrial degreaser as Diesel substitute. He claims that the industry pays as much as 70 Euro-Cent per liter for getting rid of the stuff! There is some interesting data about the degreaser on the website below, which says that many...
I want to build a box appr. 4 by 5 ft for the permanent storage of things to take along on trips in the bed of the deuce. It will be constructed out of wood and should look like an typical, original shipping crate or box of some equipment.
I'm on the search of pictures now, expecially for...
I want to go on a field trip with the deuce and a working VIC-1 tomorrow - just need to install the surpressor now. I have the right connector for the surpressor on the power-in socket of the unit, but I need to solder a cable on it with the right polarity.
Does anyone know or can point me to...
Hi,
we took the restaurated deuce to a trip over the border to France, where we visited the Hagenau-section of the Maginot-Line. For the historically inclined there is a good coverage of the matter in wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maginot_Line .
The trip covered a lot of off-road...
just saw an awesome demonstration of the mobility of a Pinzgauer.

Brought back some memories, a buddy and I once ferried a Pinzgauer through Austria and half of Germany a few years ago. It was in winter and I thought my feet would fall of because it...
My truck is missing the weight & dimension dataplate, which is mandatory for official operation here because it has the VIN and manufacturer on it. Right now I don't have anything and this could bring me into trouble if someone would check on that.
I already tried to contact mvdataplates.com...
Hi altogether,
so finally another yellow nosed deuce drives around! Last thursday I finished the restoration the way it looks now on the pictures. Then we went to a magnificent field trip over the weekend :-)
There's still a little to be done, like the inside of the bed, and the underside...
I found some interesting pictures of a gun truck in Vietnam, where the driver was relocated on the bed of the truck. Reminds me on APC drivers, who modded their controls to sit on the APC while driving, rather than in it.
It looks like they used a driveline from a jeep or something else to...
Hi,
i "shot" two complete Sets of MX6707 mast bases together with two antenna sets AS/FA 412. They look old style (copper alloy segments, not fiberglass) and come in wonderful smelly canvas bags.
I have not found to which radio the AS/FA 412 belongs to exactly, does anyone know that?
Thanks...
Somebody is selling a rather strange deuce on Ebay here. It has an IHC cab, never saw that before. Does anyone know why they were fitted with apparently civil cabs?
According to the text the vehicle is original Desert Storm era with markings.
here's the link...
I want to share a few pictures of the ongoing restoration of my deuce. I commenced work again 10 days ago and spend some time daily on it. Last weekend I applied a coat of OD 24087. I let it settle for a few days now and apply a final coat then.
Still left to do:
- underside - cleaning...
Hello Y'all,
I'd like to share a few images I took of a friends 1943 Dodge WC54 a few weeks ago.
There are more on her website, http://www.command-car.com .
Enjoy,

Hi,
there are two styles of turn signal indicators for deuces (and others of course) around: the smaller old ones, and the newer ones with the large orange flasher. I see that the old style was used in the fifties (maybe even earlier) und up to the early sixties, and the new style later on...
