Virginia sales and Use Tax for Title

4.15% tax for the title transfer. And the seller put the full price on their title when they signed it over. Of course, I would never put a lower price than paid on a title. It came with a title, and until July 2024 you don't need a title for the tags, but when that changes you need a title...

Virginia sales and Use Tax for Title

Has anyone had any luck avoiding VA Sales Tax on a HUMVEE for farm use? I will plate it as an un-registered farm vehicle but it seems there is no way to avoid the sales and use tax applied when I apply for the new title. The other option is to not get a title and pay nothing. However, this...

    M998 battery tray and brackets

I'm adding a 24/12 dc-dc. Guess I should use the run signal to a relay - I think I have seen others discussing that as well. I was going to wire it to a battery cutoff but if I leave it on it will kill the battery eventually. And I know I'll forget.

    M998 battery tray and brackets

Thanks for the input. I guess I'll have to do something similar. I'm on more rolling hills in Northern VA but the washboard roads will knock a filling out. I'm adding a battery tender (dual 12 V. Looks like you have that or maybe a 24-12v converter or solar charger? I suspect I may need...

    M998 battery tray and brackets

Hi, New to me 1986 M998 with some bubba work done to it. I need to clean up that battery area, remove the 12 V stuff, etc. I see someone tried to arc weld to the chassis side of the shunt. The battery trays I have seen online have holes for the threaded hooks and a bracket on top. Maybe...

    M1101 with troop carrier seats

Wow that is sweet. Exactly what I was thinking except nicer. I like the removable panel over the tailgate. Did you cut down stock bows or just bend some conduit to fit? Nice job and thanks for posting!

    M1101 with troop carrier seats

OK, ignoring comments about safety and people in trailers, anyone ever used M998 troop seats on an M1101 trailer? Thinking they might bolt to the top sides and make it into a stake body trailer of sorts. Maybe remove the seats and just use the backs. I think the bed in the M998 pickup and the...

    Troop seats for stake body

cargo AND a dump body all in one!

    Troop seats for stake body

Loaded a ton of brush into my M998 (pickup setup) and thought the backs of the troop carrier seats would turn this into a nice stake body truck. Maybe the seats would get in the way or I could fold them up? Wonder if just the backs can be mounted? It's a farm utility vehicle. 2 passenger...

    wiring diagram

I know this is an old thread but I am looking for the M998 schematic as well. TM-9-2320-280-20-3 does not have a "M998" labeled schematic so I assume the unlabeled page or parts of the other pages are as close as I'm gonna get? Thanks in advance

    Keyed Ignition

I bought one of these from federal military parts. One of the studs was loose. It worked (so far) but they won't even respond to my email questions about it. Paint chipped off easily. Guess I should have just installed a hidden disconnect. Won't be buying anything else from them. Simple...

Wait light on with battery disconnected

Yeah I'm going to have to take another look and make sure I remove all the 12 aftermarket stuff first.

Wait light on with battery disconnected

New to me M998. Thought I'd put in a keyed ignition switch. Disconnected the neg rear batt terminal to the chassis for safety. Wired in the new switch. Turned it to the on position before putting it in the dash and the brake and wait lights came on. Wow, but I'm a newbie to the vehicle ...
