The HMMWV windows on the doors have a plastic coating that get seperated and leaves bubble like impressions as well. The glass ir readily available in NOS form, just look around. I bought some a couple of years ago for $40 each.
What makes the government's position almost insane is that they will not sell most vehicles other than trucks, including armor and tracked vehicles to the public or even to somebody with a licnese for $2K worth of scrap when they coul have sold it to a collector for a $100K. its not that they...
Actually, you can build a much nicer HMMWV than that with parts that are readily available. Basically just need a frame, tub, engine and wiring harness and you are good to go.
Some of the armoed glass has a plastic coatin on the outside. I have had some luck with 3M plastic polish on scratches that are not too deep, especially with the thick glass.
Does anybody know where the GL lot in Oceanside is? I am sure its on the Cam Pendleton base, but where/
I can get on the base anytime and want to go have a look at something on my way home from drill
Thanks!
That's what i thought, but the Police in Wales went to that address and nobody is even there anymore. I looked it up on Google maps and the shop is for lease….
I hear you and totally agree. But if you are trying to outfit a British military land rover radio truck, you need British radios……I have not seen many for sale in the US.
Do not buy any british Clansman Radios or other gear from a guy who goes by the name tacticall-x-hire on ebay. I am out $1400 because I sent it to him and received nothing.
Here is how the scam works. You buy radios legitimately off ebay. Then he contacts you and sends you to a link and tells...
Yes, they sent me the SF97 without me even requesting it, but it was wrong, had the wrong serial number and the wrong date of manufacture. 2007 instead of 1986….they did this one on their own.
Some more pics and an update once the Cab was reassembled and quit kite was put on the floor to replace/repair the cracked coating underneath the rubber mat.
OK, before I give up, I am in serious need of help here. I am using the Safari Browser on a Mac, and upload the images from my...
I just received an email from GL yesterday….it seems many of the MK-48's used the wrong Vin in their title, which is actually a contractor's serial number. Both of my trucks had the wrong VIN and I was asked to go out and check the VIN to certify it. This started because they issued me a 2007...
I did not read all the other posts but I have done it both ways. On GL, you take what you can get. It might not be exactly what you want, and the thing you really want will be for sale two weeks later. You also have no idea what is wrong with it, so you are taking a big risk. If the Allison...
I received an email from GL today, it seems all of their vins for the last several Mk48 auctions were wrong….you will need to go fix them at some point. They used the same vin for all the sales.
Were they giving all of you "overhauled" dates as the year of manufacture?
They sent me a SF that stated my truck was manufactured in 2007, and Oshkosh was not even making them that late. Regardless, CA would never allow such a truck to be registered as a 2007 model year and if they did it...
Yes…its from LA, good shape and very functioning. I am having to learn some new mechanics but I am ok with that…I did not expect it to be perfect, but it will be when I am done.
