Finally got new boots for the pig this week and just in time for the 4th. Probably needing to retire my flag, it's getting pretty tattered after all these years. She's an old one. Best I can tell it was made at least 70 years ago. Has 48 stars and an extensive internet search has revealed an...
There's a set on ebay now but they are for the short injectors on later trucks and almost $300 shipped. So far all I've found on other diesel sites are also for newer engines, but they state they can be "tweeked" at the injector end to fit the older engines. I'll venture around a couple junk...
Haven't drivin my 08 in a while seems the tires are shot but I did take it a few miles away to look over a trailer that someone put up for sale. Everything looked M101A1, but something just didn't look right to me. Three hours searching pictures and it finally clicked. It's an earlier M101, has...
Stock bed but definitely an unusual place to nest. It's the forward spring perch. I didn't see it there a few days ago when I went to pick up a finish mower for my tractor and haven't noticed mother Robin being near the truck. I'm hoping I'm just not seeing her. Will be checking tonight when it...
So far so good. It's guaranteed for a year anyway, but I haven't a lick of trouble with it. If Rick has a case part for you it would be a whole lot cheaper though. I don't remember right off but I think I have about $700 in this reman.
Unfortunately nothing good to report here. Gelled up my 08 the last cold spell we had, knew it was going to be well below zero and forgot to put an additive in the fuel. Oh well, maybe I'll remember next time lol.
Been trying to limp my front axle along till this spring, it's in serious need of...
Nice! Why go half way lol. I had that happen to an NP205 on Rt17 in Binghamton once, at highway speed. What a racket that made, and cars scattering to miss parts. Oooops...
I'm replacing Gen 1 for the 3rd time. There's a plate on the backside of the front case that holds the bearings in place...
I ended up doing some unintended trouble shooting yesterday. Headed off to our property to get some more work done the belt started squealing again, 30 seconds later the gen1 light came on and the belt went beneath the truck, lasted all of 4 days I think. After closer looking, it appears the...
Well, driver's side alt belt is new again, 3 days old. And had to adjust it for the second time today. After reading some old posts, what the heck is it with CUCVs and bent crank pulley's???
My balancer is running good and true but the crank pulley is all out of sorts. It's not loose but it's...
It's not that these are bad, the paint has been worn off in sections. Once painted and sealed up this wont be a problem any more. I don't think I have any splinters showing anywhere, and they are strong for sure. Much better than having wood slats. I'll continue to use these until I locate one...
The slats on my '08 are 3@ 35 1/8" and 3@ 44 7/8" per side.
Prime and paint those thing too, they are the devil! Every time I'm in the back of my truck doing something I rub my arms and the fiberglass and pay for it the next couple days. I gotta get mine painted lol.
The guy I bought my '08 from...
The pump that went bad was definitely matching the wrong pump in every way. I'll eventually get a spare to keep on hand later this year when I get some other more important projects finished.
The visual comparison is what concerned me, it's been changed before I got the truck so maybe that's why it doesn't look right. A different one was installed.
Anywho, it's back together and after a good priming with the mighty vac it's back running again. Thanks for the help ;)
Well, if this one holds up a year I'll be happy with it and replace it with an AC Delco at a later date. No one has one locally, and with the wife's car most likely going down for suspension repairs this weekend, I need my truck. Looking at the images of an AC pump, this one looks the same...
This one does have the spring on top, the one taken out of the truck actually had it under the lever. There isn't much travel before the lever comes to compression and it's very stiff.
I'll get better pictures of the old one....
And here they are
The lift pump I got today looks a bit different, I remember seeing some pictures of a pump that was definitely wrong but can't find it now. The base on the new one is shallower and the lever on this one is different. It does look like it's the same distance from the housing though.
This one is...
That thought passed my mind but the mechanical pumps last plenty long. Besides that electric pumps I see locally are more geared towards hot rodding, like the big Holley pumps, or have too small inlet/outlets. I'm sure I could have ordered one but my patients is thin when it comes to needing...
