What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

What have I done to my CUCV today? With head hung low, we towed her home :( Wife and I were on a leisurely drive over the back roads to some property we will be moving to, pulled up to a stop sign and she quit. Been running good but looked close on fuel, I was goig to stop to get fuel anyway...

instaling a new diesel motor in my m1008

I'm not usually on 81 around 12pm, once in a while. Between 5-6 more often if my wife want's me to meet her in Binghamton for dinner. Otherwise my times are scattered lol. But still traveling between the Point and Binghamton a LOT. You aren't kidding about the number of speeding tickets written...

instaling a new diesel motor in my m1008

I'm actually a bit surprised, mostly because the Socialist Republic of New York doesn't. Our State Police are a huge factor in the State's income. You may get a cheap $15 fine for something, but the state minimum court surcharge is like $85 on top of that. As long as they don't force it above...

instaling a new diesel motor in my m1008

Will the police really ticket you for driving what you think is 55mph? I run 55-60 in my M1008, stock tires and tranny, on Interstate 81 frequently up here and the State Police don't even care. Download a GPS app for your phone to see how fast you are really driving.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I see even fewer of those. The 1031 bodies I've seen have started about $750, even that's more than I can cough up ATM. Although it might cost me that much to fix the bed. Getting ready to move to a new private piece of property.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Well, finally got around to checking the tire issue out again, one tire looked a bit wonky so I rotated them again the other day. Fixed the 35mph death wobble, but got it back when under braking for a stop. I was at my friend's camp and he happened to notice the front tires and asked if they...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Not much to show, but finally rotated my tires after replacing the whooped shocks up front. The front tires were cupping, the locker always has a way of fixing them though. Unfortunately now I get a wicked case of death wobble, where I only occasionally had it before. I'm thinking it's a tire...

New member, new m1008 extra battery wire?

Well that's a good start. The click is probably the glow plug solenoid energizing. Look through the TM to diagnose the starter issue, may not be getting power to the solenoid on the starter. The relay under the dash is a common problem, especially as it has a new starter makes me think it had a...

New member, new m1008 extra battery wire?

Are the glow plug resistors hooked up? Maybe it was used to bypass them.

Whos installed HAM Radio's in CUCV's

I've got an Icom ID5100 in my truck, head mounted at the dash on this swivel mount I had laying around. The radio itself is mounted behind the seat with a Comet dual band NMO mount antenna on the roof. Which I've already ripped off the roof once. Gotta do something different there, I don't need...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

It's not even going to be electrically feasible. The alternators will increase the load on the motors as they are charging, so figure in the added amperage to run the motors. Then if you want to turn a power steering pump, which will be a substantial motor, add that amperage in, air conditioner...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

One of the comments concerning this was for using electric fans to eliminate belt stretch.... Still doesn't matter, gotta have the belts to drive the alternators lol.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

The weather finally cooperated so I had a chance to work on my brakes. Started on the passanger's side thinking the noise was coming from the driver's side, do the easy one first. Nope, apparently couldn't tell which side it was :shrugs: Had a heck of a time getting the drum off, adjuster was...

Civilian alternator for gen 1 temporary..questions

That's what was throwing me for a loop was the STE-ICE connector. I seen the same pin on other alternators besides these isolated ground alternators, so when the new one didn't have it I was thinking I got the wrong one. I looked for hours trying to figure out what was up and kept coming up...

Civilian alternator for gen 1 temporary..questions

For the time being I have a new civi alternator to go in place of gen 1. It's purely a need the truck now deal. I can't be down a few days waiting on parts to arrive. I will be rebuilding the original this summer. I see references on using a civi alternator but they don't expand on it much. I...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I seen the member here offering the kits, thanks. NAPA is 4 miles away though and more tha likely will have the parts on the shelf. They're great about stuff like this. They cater to a pretty good farming community so they carry more than the average city NAPA.
