Gen 1 started giving me fits so I spent a couple hours today troubleshooting. Exciter voltage was a bit low but after cleaing up some of GM's famous LaBrea Tar the voltage was where it's supposed to be. Still doesn't charge but I'm confident it needs at least brushes but going to get everything...
This is sounding like an expensive fix lol. Pretty sure I'll also find the ring and pinion to be shot as well. If I'm going that far I might as well dif up a posi out of a dana 60 at the local wrecking yard.
What's with the jig you have around the carrier? That's about the only work I haven't done on any of my trucks and the pinion bearings on the front of my 08 are bad, really bad. I hate to do it but I may have to farm that work out.
I've bought a few vehicles out of Pa, notary is required for the sale. I got tripped up once buying a truck with a PA title and not notarized. What a PITA. Notary isn't required in NY though.
I've all new brake parts for my 1008 and went to call NAPA today to see how many of my fingers they'll need to turn the drums and realized it was Sunday. Called them yesterday at 4pm and remembered they close early. Gotta get my crap together aua
I can't find it, among a whole other pile of paperwork for upholstery suppliers. I had stacks of brochures for different types of materials for making custom seat covers to tarps for fire trucks. Am not happy :-(
I'll be moving this spring some time, maybe it will show up when we're packing...
I used to work in a marine upholstery shop and recovered a lot of seats, anything and everything from bass boats to show quality cars. With trucks the biggest problem is the foam breaking down after the cover rips, but can be easily fixed with some spray tack adhesive and 1" thick foam. Some...
The new trucks do have a few improvements I like but there's no way I could ever get past the price. They have nicer seats, the a/c is a good option but I'm perfectly happy spinning the vent windows around in the 08, and seat heaters are the best option to ever come out. When I go to our local...
The heater hoses don't look to me like they are that old and feel good. It may be just the way the picture looks. The upper rad hose is pretty new and thermostat working great, I think they were replaced by the PO at the same time. He told me a list of things that were done before he sold it, I...
I have a project I'll be working on this summer similar. Replacing the front BO lights with IR and fitting an IR security camera behind the grill wired to my laptop. Will be used for driving the logging roads while coyote hunting.
Finally had enough nice weather to get my water pump done. Got farther than I thought yesterday after a late start. Turned out to be a beautiful day.
Another nice day today and finished up the rest. Really windy though. I'll still take that over what we got coming the next few days.
I think as long as you start with a good and solid 1009 to start with you should be fine. I don't have one yet, but my 1008 with 4.56 gears got me a best of 18mpg. I bought it to use as a truck and wasn't a bit concerned about mileage, I was pleasantly shocked when I seen how good it was. The K5...
Ok, so I'm going to retouch on this topic again. I've given up trying to find an affordable dock for my Getac. I'm a bit up in the air whether I want to go the Toughbook rout or General Dynamics route. The GD8200's are going for roughly the same price as a loaded CF-30 that has a slower...
