Got the entire side and under side of the bed in primer and started painting the underside green. Priming alone took nearly 6 hours using a brush and roller. Thankfully I was a contortionist in the Russian circus in my past life, so I was able to hit ever little crack and crevice with the...
I put in a few bead welds on the passenger side, but put sheet metal screws in on the drivers side to reduce flex. I plan on putting a few sheet meal screws in on the passenger side when I remove everything and paint the interior. There is still a small bit of flex that should be eliminated...
Well here's the update....
Bed is on with new hardware holding her down. Removed a majority of the larger, loose rust from inside the bed area then pressure washed the entire inside, outside and underside in preparation for paint. I was amazed at how much tan paint simply blasted right off...
Putting the bed on in the morning. Once that's on I'll be working on her again while working on the CUCV as well. The last two weeks have been hectic with the wife working out of town, so almost no time for anything....
Glad this thread popped up...I have the same issue and was about to search for it! Thanks!
And if you didn't find it, Carnac has a great thread!

Not yet, but I know there will be a spot on the driver's side near where the roof was rotted out above the window and there's a spot on the passenger side where I replaced a bunch of metal on the B-pillar. Hoping there's not more than that.
Well got the driver's side floor pan cut out and the replacement sheet metal roughed in. Should have it all welded and primed tomorrow. Then it's time to tackle the drip rail, rocker panels and removing the top to prime & paint the body section and replace the seals.
She looks pretty good to me! Mine was/is in much worse shape than yours!
Fortunately my wife has seen the work I have done on the Deuce and she can envision what the M1009 will look like when finished. As for the neighbors, got lots of weird looks when the deuce was in the driveway, and get a...
Welcome to the club! I got mine a few months ago to compliment my Deuce, and now I have two projects going at once.
And since no one else has posted it yet.....
nopics
Fortunately mine is a thin layer of white painted over the desert tan which was painted over the OD green. The only real bad spots are the front passenger side quarter and passenger side door where the guy I bought it from tried to strip it to bare metal. Got the fender looking right, still...
Thanks. If there's one thing I've learned, it's measure, measure, measure before you take the plunge and cut!
I spray painted the bed yellow in that section before drawing my line with a Sharpie so that I could see it better. Made following the line much easier! I did however have to cut...
Wow, it's been quite a long time since I worked on the Deuce! Between work on the M1009 and everything else, not much progress has been made. However, all that changed this last Saturday when I managed to get the bed cut down to about 9 feet with the help of a gas powered chop saw! It was...
Well it's been awhile, and I've got quite a lot accomplished. Stripped out all the Rhino liner in the front cab area and replaced the rusted out metal on the passenger side floor and B-Pillar. Also replaced the seats with late model Chevy seats that have the integrated shoulder harnesses...
