Well it's finally started and there's no turning back now. With the help of a friend and his backhoe, managed to get the bed off and got the cab resting in place for the drive back to where I will be doing most of the work. Biggest hang up was the fact I didn't borrow long enough straps so we...
Thanks for posting this. Since I just started the crew cab project I don't think my truck will be ready for Richloam, so maybe I'll see some of you at the show.
Trimmed the donor cab and removed accessories from the bed in preparation for the crew cab build.
Also noted that the temp gauge never came off 100F, but the engine definitely felt warm after idling and taking her for a spin around the block. Guess it's something more to add to the list.
PM sent...
Cab vent section has already been cut, but the original cab has not been, so there are still some options if needed. Wasn't expecting tons of leg room, but based on my measurements it'd suffice. Can you send a pic of the back section with seats in as well, maybe with a tape measure...
Hey Matt, any issues with leaving the gas tank in the original position? I just started my project and it looks like if there's ever an issue with the tank components it'll be a pain to get at the fittings for tank removal.
Also, would it be possible for you to post a straight on side shot of...
Exactly what I plan on doing once the crew cab project gets finished. Still debating on whether I'll make it removable or not though.
You should start your own build thread with more pics and details....
Loved that show, and while they had a gasifier, Doomsday Preppers pilot episode had a guy with a gasifier in the back of his pickup, which he could also attach to the generator when needed. That's the show I was referencing...
There was an episode on one of those doomsday shows that had the guy running his truck and generator off a wood gasifier. Definitely interesting stuff that once I get the free time to experiment with I will.
Picked up the cab, doors and step box for the crew cab project from a donor M35A3. :D
Also had to replace the batteries, as she failed to crank several times but would easily start with a jump. aua
Get the locking handles from Caliber1 if you havn't done so already...well worth the investment!

Put two new 9x20's on the front, swapped the old front tires to the middle axle, painted all the rims the same color, installed "newer" troop seats, adjusted passenger window to roll up and seal better, and started some rehab on the interior. Should be picking up the cab and doors for the crew...
Man, I am sooooooooooo envious of you right now!
Grew up in Wisconsin and road the Dells Duck tours numerous times, and my 8 year old drove one on Lake Delton when we were there last summer! Had a chance to buy one back in 97 for about $18k, but it was a bit much for me then (like $80k isn't...
Hey Clinton, can you post some pics showing how much leg room there is in the back section? I'm getting ready to start my build soon and I'm thinking of eliminating the vent section between the doors, so I'm curious how much leg room I might be left with.
Definitely one of a kind...great job!
Can you post some pics showing how much leg room there is in the back section? I'm assuming it's a little less than a full crew cab conversion, however, I'm thinking if the vent section was not there and you left the full doors on it it would be about the...
