Curious who your point of contact is with Gulfway. I've corresponded three times now with them and each time the lady told me they do NOT cover ex-military vehicles for anything BUT collectors insurance (known as Collector's Choice), which comes with a ton of restrictions. I specifically asked...
Welcome from Jacksonville!
I'm hoping to make it to Richloam after just buying my deuce last week.
When I was looking I found quite a few on Craigslist in various Florida areas, and you could always look on eBay too. I wound up buying one from a member on here locally that was listed in the...
Paint is the same as when he bought it at auction. He's a member on here and it was bought locally. It came from auction on singles, and I'm gonna believe him that they were flipped. I'll be driving her home this weekend (it was late last night) so I will definitely know then.
Well I'm going on the words of the owner, who is a member on here and has owned plenty of deuces. Talking to him he certainly knows his stuff, and an up close visual it certainly looks like it. I've researched hub flipping on the site, and will know for certain this weekend.
Thanks Blendmaster, might have to take that into consideration, especially since at them moment I am leaning heavier into an M35A2 purchase now to crew cab and either cutting the existing bed and leaving it as such and buying/building an M109 box on a trailer or building a custom box.
No, the shop van deuce and a half were classified as M109A3, with the newer ones with the Cat 3316 and Allison tranny an M109A4.
@ RECONJON - Great start on the project. I was going to go a similar route but have decided I'm wanting to crew cab the deuce I get, then go for a box build...
@ camoyj7 - Weight is my concern as well, plus the fact that I really don't want to get involved with stretching the frame, hence cutting the box.
@ henersond - cutting it down would be the only way to make it work this way --- or crew cab a M35 with out stretching and build my own custom box...
Cool, who's is that? Got a link?
Sure cutting the box will lose me some room, guess that's something I'll have to consider. Gonna take some measurements of what I have in mind to put in based on the blueprints for the box. Hopefully that will give me a better idea.
As for the Georgia Rally...
@ RedBeard: Yeah, I read that thread, but I think in the end he took the M109 box off due to lack of power and stability. I hadn't thought much into cutting the box up, but it's all time and effort once you get into it.
@ General MacGregor: Yep, I would run out of room for a lot of stuff...
Crew Cabbed M109???
Well I'm pretty certain I'll be getting an M109A3 for my first deuce. My plans for this are to convert the box into a RV section. I've got two that I am considering, just have to come to terms on which one to get.
However, of late I've become fixated on the crew cabbed...
