dmetalmiki, I'll check current, but I still can't understand why loosening the Starter Mounting Bolts frees the starter shaft, and then it starts without issue. It doesn't explain, and perhaps it is NOT related to, the issue of the enormous spacing between the the starter shaft and the teeth of...
I mostly had this problem licked, but since I am doing some work under the engine, I thought I'd have another look. A couple of years back I replaced the starter with a Wilson MT28. I also replace suspect wiring to be sure there was no hidden corrosion clouding the issue. Now that fall is here I...
Virtually since I bought my M1009 I have had on again, off again (most off) problems with the left front signal/parking lamp. The problem was that the front side marker blinked, but the front combo didn't blink, which really pi$$ed-off oncoming left-turn traffic at four way intersections.
I...
RESOLVED. The spark I saw made me investigate any wire sources that could produce it. I found the problem the moment I begin inspecting the passenger side Alternator. One of the heavy Red wires to the ALT had been hard-pressed against the capacitor- shown in picture with carbon arc/pit. I...
I have 11volts at the glow plug connector.
Replaced GP with fresh G60x8
Also, just checked my GP control card (Antenna climber v2.x) All LEDS glow as per his instructions.
Fully charged the batteries, and then tried bleeding the OEM filter. I have non-contaminated diesel flowing nicely. I...
Cranked but no start this morning. I have cracked the air bleed valve and get fuel when I crank the engine. Pulled a Glow Plug- about two years old, my OHM meter says it's 2.2Ω- same as a new set of G60s on my shelf.
Would the heat cause this?
What else can I check?
Changed out all injectors, and fuel lines (Tygon-yellow), hose clips (HELP parts from Oreilly spec'd for 6.2 & 6.5 diesel GM). First ones I ever tackled. Had to buy a 30 deep well from Oreilly ($10). Other tools: 3/8" rachet with 1/2 adapter, Kroil to loosen difficult couplings, 7mm to loosen...
My 1009 seems to require more warm up before the tranny gets up and moves. The last trans oil change, i noticed the filter didn't really hang on to the pickup tube. I added an extra o-ring, and it seemed to help- but was still a little slow to build pressure on cold days.
I'm getting ready to...
My belts started squealing on my M1009 last week. I put it off until today. One look with the engine running told the story. The power steering pump bracket had at least one nut loose. This is the new one i got with purchase of an old P/S pump for $39? The original one had broken twice, and I...
Installed new Bilstein shocks on front and back. Also installed a new KYB on the front linkage. The rear shocks were not hard, just had to learn a few things along the way:
Passenger Rear:
Use a wedge to make room for your hand to get at inside rail nut- gently pry the muffler towards...
OTWPeck, Here is a link to starter woes I got help with. I ended up trying 4 starters, before I got where I am today. My M1009 starts strong, and nearly 100% reliability.
I pulled the starter than came in my purchase of the Blazer- it was 12 volt. and a brace was missing. This may have...
I used SEM cleaner and vinyl prep, before shooting my seats with SEM upholstery dye mix ed at my local paint shop to the original color code for those seats. The seats that came in my '09, were beat. I found a very nice pair in the bone yard from a Chevy s10. Same seat in blue. In less than an...
I believe that Oregon is the last state that still has stations that pump your gas by law. In most stations you can, or have to, pump your own diesel. Some big chains don't want you to do even that. Yesterday I pulled in and hopped out to initiate my fill. A younger guy comes over and asks in a...
After bumping around the sticks during deer season, I thought I'd check my headlamps on my M1009- one seemed higher than the other. Per the TM I measured the distance from flat surface to center of headlamp. It was 38". The TM says to mark the present middle of the beam (hi-beam ON) on the wall...
I found a guy on the bay that had a pump and bracket for sale under $50 shipped. Got here today before the sun came around to that side of the house. I had the original one off since yesterday- including having pulled the pulley with a HFT pulley kit. The bottom 2-piece bracket was the hardest...
I'm in the middle of moving this week and I hear an odd noise as I turn off the ignition. Under the hood I find the bracket for the P/s pump cracked off on the top ear and the driver's side ear.
Are there any ways to weld these up so they won't go out in the future?
Are there any places to...
