I switched from Goodyear Wrangler MT to BFGoodrich Bajas and I like the ride a lot better after the switch. BFGoodrich Bajas feel a lot less bouncy on the road compared to Goodyear Wrangler MTs.

I tried to go the neutral safety switch route because it was cheaper than the reverse switch but was not able to locate the double threaded adapter. I ended up buying the reverse switch. Out of curiosity, I took out the double threaded adapter from the reverse switch and went looking for it at...
If I remember correctly, you need a 33mm socket to remove the transfer case fill plug. Always make sure you can remove the fill plug first before you drain it.

Bubbles in the power steering reservoir cannot be linked to bleeding brakes ... If the brake pedal is sticking or feeling soft, then yes bleeding the brake lines for air would make sense.

I am sure any thing can be done. I don't know if the channels for the doors will work out. Also need to tap holes for the top rails. Feels like a lot of work ... But if you have the skills go for it.
