I have been looking for jack stands for my HMMWV and I have not been successful. The ones I bought from Sears are not tall enough. I thought of using 6 × 6 railroad timber to get more height from my existing jack stands but I want to check with you all to see if you have a better approach...
Can you pressure test the reservoir with a loaner kit from Auto zone and such? I am still inclined to think it is the reservoir cap. That is what it was in my case.

It is possible that the O-ring on the dip stick tube is leaking. Remove the dog house and shine a flashlight to where the dip stick goes into the transmission. See if that area is wet with transmission fluid. If yes, clean it up as best as you can, drive a little and see if it gets wet again...
I would strongly recommended looking at the TM diagram to make sure you loosened the three alternator bolts. There is one at the bottom front, one at the back opposite to this and the third is the one in front and top and is the true tension adjustment bolt. It slides in the curved slot. Also...
You don't remove the fan. You loosen the alternator bolts for removing two of the belts. You loosen power steering pump bracket bolts for removing the other two belts. You need a half inch breaker bar and there are slots for it to tension the belt when you put new ones on. There is just enough...
Just noticed that the exhaust pipe is coming out behind the rear wheel like in the civilian model instead of in front of the rear wheel. Is that how you got it or did you change it?

When the truck is running, the generator should be putting out 28v and 14v at the respective posts on the generator. I guess it would be safe to assume you had the circuit closed i.e. the negative of the voltmeter connected to the HMMWV body and the negative of the generator is grounded properly...
