I am looking for a pitman arm for 1989 HMMWV M998. If you still have one for sale. How much are you asking for it? It looks like there are a couple of different ones available; would any of them work? Do I need to figure out a part number for you? How do I go about it?

It is not too bad to remove the alternator. There is plenty of space. Remove the small black plastic cover. Remove the wires. Remove the bolts / nuts. It took me a while the first time; I was being extra careful not to f*** up anything.

To me it sounds like a quirky alternator. Put a voltmeter at the battery terminals when this is happening and see what voltage the alternator is putting out for those 9 seconds. If it is much more than 28v your batteries may get fried. Worst case scenario, you will need a new alternator. Best...
I agree with the sales tax - gov planet charges it upfront even though you / the vehicle is going to another state. I am yet to approach them to get back the sales tax they collected. It is a chore that we could all do with out.

The starter is what cranks the engine. So, the vehicle would start as long as the batteries had enough charge. The 12v alternator would not charge the 24v battery set up.
