    Armor Plate Thickness

Aluminum is probably the best choice for reasons you stated but it is very expensive.

VETERANS DAY 2011 - Post HERE!

Hartford, CT Parade was a good weather day, sunny and warmish. Turnout could have been better but considering there are still about 100,000 customers (which means many more people than that) without power after last weekend's storm, it's understandable. COMVEC members brought 10 MV,s First...

    M-37 Update

Just did mine with rattle cans, too. 24087/24084 (Randolf cross references to both!) Keep plugging away at it.

    Armor Plate Thickness

Thanks. I'm looking into alternatives to steel to try to save some weight and wear and tear on my body.

    Buyout

Oh nooooooooo! This is gonna be expensive (Think Rodney Dangerfield in Caddyshack: Gimmee one of those, a box of those, three of them over there....)

    Armor Plate Thickness

Bill, I assume you mean 0.25" in your first sentence? 0.025 is getting into the tin foil area.

    Armor Plate Thickness

Just wondering what thickness of steel plate was used for armor boxes on M37s in Vietnam? Thanks.

VETERANS DAY 2011 - Post HERE!

Hartford, CT Parade Sunday 11/6. So far, COMVEC has about 4 vehicles. The storm of last weekend will likely result in a smaller than normal turnout of MVs.

    How to ID an M37

You can look for the SN on the brass data plate attached to the glove box lid. You can verify that number with the SN that is stamped into the frame just forward of the driver's side front wheel. The number you have so far is the USA Army number that was assigned by the Army when the vehicle was...

    Value of a m37 ?

Also depends on your location. The Northeast seems to support slightly higher prices. As for the photo, the color looks incorrect as well as the markings so if you are looking for authentic, then figure in a paint job and decals or stencils. I recently saw a "restored" M37 that had more fluid...

    M37 Update

Since the last report, I've replaced the bent rear driveshaft, u-joints and rear T-case seal. Also replaced the radiator, hoses and fan belt. Most of the body paint is done, just some small parts and the window frames to go, likely for next year. Paint was all by rattle can, 3 cases so far...

Dad's new ride M37 fire truck

Congrats! Looks like a 12V conversion? Plans to restore to military or keep it as is? Looks real clean as it is.

    King of the rattle can

I agree with SW, very few of them looked showroom new for very long. Even at that showroom new for a MV was nothing like civie vehicles of the time. I'm getting close to being done with my M37, all rattle-can, and hope to be finished by this time next week. As I posted above, I'm doing a...

    Tranny and Transfer Case Lube

I used the black plastic pump I got at NAPA in the gallon jug of lube. It's not easy as the gears are right inside the opening. As I recall, I pushed the nozzle in at a downward angle and held it in place by holding the hose farther back against the frame. I also recall having to pump slowly...

    M37 GT Gun Mounts

I'm not sure if I'm using the correct terms, so feel free to ask for clarification or to correct me. I'm looking for the military designation for (I think) the pintle mount for a M60 , Vietnam era. I'll be looking for two of these mounts as well as the mounting plates for the M60s. If anyone...
