The 700r4 is a perfectly good transmission that will handle just as much as the 4l80e when built correct at half the cost, no computer and WAY less work to install. Let’s try not to turn this into another 700r4 vs 4l80e thread. This is for people who don’t want the 4l80e and would like...
Are there any heavy duty TC’s that would be better behind the 6.2L than others? Wondering if anyone has had problems with any certain brand or if there any certain brands that work great? I always prefer to hear from people who have used them rather than trust what the website selling the part says.
I am getting ready to do a 700r4 swap in my 93 M1038 and was wondering the same thing. So would a TC with a lock up around 1200 to 1400 be the best bet? Also don’t forget to swap out the governor gear if the tranny came from a non diesel.
I have seen some seats for the Humvee that are the same style as high back seats but are not as tall. They are about the same height as the original seats but have a lot more padding and a little bit of recline. Another option would be seats from an International Scout II or similar vehicle. Old...
I had a brand new 3 lever switch not work. I would guess that’s your problem. Check and make sure you are getting 24v to terminal F wire #15. That is input power to the switch. From there see if you have power going to your blinker controller. Here is a list of what wires go to what terminal...
Even if the kit doesn’t come with a TV cable bracket you can just use the stock one on the HMMWV. You just have to make the hole square instead of round. Pretty easy mod to save a lot of money. Most places want a ridiculous price for the bracket.
Stock car and most hot rod shops are gas motors only. Gotta look for either a diesel specific shop or a regular mechanic that does both. Not a lot of performance places that do both (NOT saying there aren’t shops that do both but they are harder to find)
Check agricultural filter such as tractors and skid steers and things like that. They use the same style filter and it wouldn’t surprise me if you can find one the right size to fit. Cheaper filters will flow more air but more dirt also. Don’t know if it matters on the HMMWV but on my Scouts I...
I mentioned the deep water ford capabilities of the HMMWV earlier but like I said I don’t know about the H1 and now I am curious. Does anyone know if it’s possible to get the DWF kit on the H1? I know it’s going to raise **** with the interior when you get it wet but just curious if it will stay...
Fasse Valves makes switchable solenoids that would work great for something like that. We have them on our hay feeders to switch between different operations (load bales, tilt bed, and grind hay) but use one hydraulic bank on the tractor. Also our Dew Eze bale beds use the same style setup. One...
For someone just wanting to know the differences between the two you sure have a lot of complaints about the answers. Those are the differences and why they are not road legal in some places. If you don’t like it get the DOT safety standards and DMV registration standards changed.
They move but not far enough back unfortunately. Knees are in the dash even in the farthest back setting. The seats only go up when you go forward. They don’t have just up/down or just forward/backwards. 3 positions with the farthest forward being for umpa loompa’s I think.
Pretty sure that’s spot on. The only reason the H1 came to be is because a few people with REALLY thick wallets said “that’s bad ass, I want one but I want it to have power everything, leather, wood grain or carbon fiber and radio and heat and ac and .......”. Uncle Sam didn’t buy it to be comfy...
I was mainly just wondering if anyone has ever been bouncing along and went “**** I wish there was a couple more inches of clearance”. Wasn’t really lookin for exact numbers just do you ever wish for more head room? I don’t have high backs just stock seats with no up and down. How much taller do...
Is it a pain in most states to license a HMMWV? Only asking because the old ladies at the court house here had never seen one or dealt with one and they didn’t give me any issues. The one thing I thought was strange is the body style on the title is listed as “8 cylinder” instead of 4 door or...
Have you looked into Lizard Skin or Al’s HNR or similar products? I know the Lizard Skin works great for interiors. I have seen it used on lots of hot rods and show cars. One coat is ceramacoat and takes care of heat, next layer is the sound deadener and then top coat. You can get about any...
I have also been told AM General doesn’t want the HMMWV released to the public for highway use because just like you said, they haven’t been crash tested and were never meant for the civilian highways.
As far as I know they are the same just like the article states. Civilian has a safety style...
