MEP-802a 803a glow plug removal question

**I use diesel instead of gas. Burns slower and its in the gen set tank anyway.** Yea, you are right on with that one. My error in suggesting. David

MEP-802a 803a glow plug removal question

I had a 002a that had been subjected to ether. Not good. Broke both pistons at the ring area. Luckily, I found nos pistons for replacements. WD40 works and is safer sprayed in the intake while turning it over. Some also use a rag with a LITTLE (few drops) gasoline in the intake and light it...

    MEP-002A & MEP-003A Generator A/C Volt Regulator Info.

I pulled a couple of years as a Army vehicle dispatcher in the late 70's and looked forward to the PS magazines (although they were always 6 or so months late). Guess everyone else read them first...... Looks like a searchable website is available here...

    MEP-002A & MEP-003A Generator A/C Volt Regulator Info.

Got all my 002s and 003's corrected. Was a snap once I figured out where P59E16 connected to (thanks to Chainbreaker)! My TB4-3 (Right) P59E16 was buried under other wires on the first unit. Many thanks to Guyfang for raising the issue and Chainbreaker for the pictures. Hope I get the chance to...

    MEP-002A & MEP-003A Generator A/C Volt Regulator Info.

Checked my 002/003's and they are all wired the "bad" way. Guess I have some work to do.. Many thanks for the info.

    Glow plug removal Mep002a/3

I have had several glow plugs like that. Patience is key using Rusty's process above. Alternate may be taking the heads to a machine shop and let them go at it. Have also seen ads for used heads in good condition (seller's opinion). Is the rest of the genny in good condition? May pay to have...

Major Power Outage Mep-002 Getting Workout

***I like your signature. I have the same equipment list except for your 003 (x2) . Edit: Except now I see you went and edited your signature...lol I only have 2 botas*** Thanks for the reminder-I had forgotten to update. The 3901 was intended to replace the 3130 now that the work around...

Major Power Outage Mep-002 Getting Workout

Sounds like we all can learn from your experience! We have had 1 week outages in the past. At that time I had a B&S screamer then a PTO generator. Did not like either. Ended up with 2 002's and 2 003's. Each one ready to go. Exercise them monthly. Have one of Triple Jim's AC Voltage regulator...

MEP003A No Fuel Out of Injector Pump

IP timing is easy following the TM. Sounds like your plunger disk is broken. With a little patience, these ip's come apart quite easily. Do a search, there is a lot of information on these ip's. Good luck, David

Delks can probably fix you up. David

    Mep-002a

CTXKIGER-a little acetone carefully used, might clean up the pump parts enough for the slider to move and you would have a couple of spare pumps. David

    Mep-002a

Something else to think about-does the IP look like it has been messed with? If it was taken apart at some time, and the throttle control lever not put in properly (ie: not engaged in the valve control), it would act like you are describing. Could go wide open and close intermittently with...

    Mep-002a

If after you check all grounds, it still acts like a fuel issue, you should start troubleshooting the fuel system from start to finish. One way is to put a "T" with a gauge in the fuel line at the ip fuel inlet and see if you have 5 to 8 psi while running. If not, go back through each item and...

    Mep-002a

How about the grounds from the battery negative to genny frame, engine, and control panel? Those are the ones that can give trouble.

    Mep-002a

Normal operation is near 60 hz (1800 rpm) if the gauge is working. Does it sound like it's running slow? The throttle knob has a coarse and fine setting. Push and hold center button while running and pull out or push in to get close to 1800 rpm and if the gauge is working the needle will come...

    Mep-002a

When running, what is the hertz reading if any? Is the throttle control hooked up (under front flywheel cover)?
  17. D

    Mep-002a

Yea, he has had it running for 60 seconds.

    Mep-002a

Would not tie the fuel shutoff open. You could have a run away. Not pretty. If solenoid will not stat up, something is not operating correctly. Check the grounds.

    Mep-002a

You can also wire brush them....

    Mep-002a

Just for grins, check all grounds (cabinet and other straps). A loose ground will cause major headaches. Take the straps off and grind a clean spot on each. The cabinet ground is a small strap under the back.
