Most of us have done this to some extent. Don't feel too badly...life goes on. When I lose money on a new hobby I consider it the price of admission. Do not ask what I have invested in my CUCVs!
I used to collect Hummer articles, etc. At one time AM Gen published a Hummer magazine but it was for H1 owners and military models were rarely mentioned. There were some good articles and maintenance, tools to carry,etc. You could contact AM Gen and see if it is available in any form.
Agree with most of above. The pintle riser is a good investment. Although you will probably not need the surge brakes to activate with empty trailer, they will work better if trailer is level. Safety chain extenders may be necessary. I have posted before that you can use the hoisting shackles...
Don't know for sure but it provides some sound insulation, protects the paint, allows some loads to be moved more easily, and provides a level deck surface. When replacing mine I discovered that it was red wood plywood!
