WOW! So just how did that fail like that? Glad no one got hurt from loss of control from parts removing themselves. I heard of a rocket crash described as a RUD event. Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly.
Mine does the same thing. With no load on the resistor bank you will see a higher voltage after the bank. When the glow plugs are cold they draw a lot of current. It will drop the voltage at the relay down to single digits. As the glow plugs warm up they draw less current and the voltage...
I have a bunch of the PulseTech 24 volt solar chargers. One on the CUCV and one each on MEP-805B's. All of them fire right up after sitting for a long time.
I just built a 24 volt battery GPU for helicopters and put the NOCO 12/24 volt charger on it. I got it at Interstate Batteries.
On mine I added the button by connecting to the light blue wire at the control module under the dash. No need to go through the firewall. I still have the module and it works. The button is needed on warm starts when the glow plug system does not come on.
The pink black wire is 12 volts with key on. Use your voltmeter to check it. Not the continuity setting. (Ohms). (You will see continuity because it's finding ground through the other components) The PO wired it wrong. The smaller terminal on the relay that is not connected to the black...
Get the part number off the starter and see if it's 12 or 24 volts. Then we will walk you through the conversion. If it is a 12 and you have one good alternator you have all the major parts.
Read the roscommon conversion pdf I attached. Double check everything. Problem with a partial conversion is not knowing what is what. Like the starter. You need to get the part number off it and check. There are to many variables to accurately diagnose this over the internet.
After you swapped the glow plug relay you lost the engine control fuse. I suspect the black/pink wire that goes to the GP relay is now shorted to ground. For your convenience I have attached the glow plug system troubleshooting guide. Read up on it, correct the shorted wire issue then with...
I finished wiring the yellow strobe and the Go Light. Both are magnetic mounted as I loathe drilling holes in vehicles.
The 2 red switches control the auxiliary fuel pump and the strobe. The black button is for manual glow plug operation. The Go Lite controller fits very nicely where the...
A diesel engine does not create vacuum which is where most gasoline engines get the brake boost assist*. The diesel uses a hydraulic booster which gets power from the steering pump. Which is not to be confused with the brake fluid itself.
*(I once had a turbocharged Audi that had the...
Thanks for bringing this thread back to life. I work for a public agency that has (had)* 2 flyable UH-1H's that are used for SAR work and tactical. Great helicopters. I have a lot of time in them. Also wrenched on them for the uncle about 35 or so years ago.
* We bounced one off a...
