I've got a friend who scored a brand new 1989 m36a2 and is on his way home with it. He has got some type of cargo cover in the cab floor that came with it but no bows. He says the top appears to be a cover to be used on the existing stake body without bows. He believes it to be too short to...
Ok, so I found the paint from SW. The guy is telling me I need to re-prime the whole truck. Is that how the military repaints them? I can see camo over desert tan put no primer? Who has repainted one with the one part CARC and did you re-prime the whole truck?
As I get ready to paint, does anybody have the numbers on how many gallons of paint I'll need to do the M35A2 and in what colors? For instance, 3 gallons of green, 1 black, etc...
Thanks for the help.
Listen,
I think the real story here is who shoveled all that off the truck?!
Once upon a time I had a Chevy 1 ton dump and offered to help my brother's father in law haul some gravel. It was one of those "self serve" quarries where you pull under the hopper and pull the cable yourself. I let...
I found this rifle holder on MVPAL. It says it's for a M-151 MUTT but will fit other models. Some of you guys that have them, is this compatiable with the deuce? Also, you guys that have them, did you install it or did it come in the truck? It seems like it should have been a standard option...
When I disassembled it, I had to pull that rear seal off. I reassembled it like you said and was carefull when reinstalling the drum not to drag the seal on the threads but I got to wondering about why the old seal was knocked back. Maybe that's why it was leaking.
I'm replacing the seals on the right rear axle. The inner seal on the back bearing appears to have to be driven onto the axle tube. How are you accomplishing this and do you drive it as far back as it will go or is there a preset point to get it on. When I disassembled it the seal was probably a...
What typically happens during the "rebuild" service? I've seen several on GL that have the rebuild and a date thrown in the description. Mine has the little triangle tag that I think represents that. Anybody know if it's a standard list of repairs/replacements?
Update
Looks like my DVOM is not operating correctly. I secured another one and found that I'm getting about 3 volts at the socket. Looks like I'm looking for a corrosion/connection problem up stream. Any ideas?
Ok, I've got a left brake light that is inop. I have checked the ground for the housing. It's good and I have tail lights. (I think they all share the same ground) I have replaced the brake light switch and checked the wiring for any obvious damage. Can't find any. If I use my DVOM, I am getting...
Driving it around will be fun than you can imagine. It is a great attention getter especially at gas stations and Home Depot.
The first time I used my winch... I was driving around minding my own business when I found two young guys in a van stuck in a ditch. They were trying to put up a...
You're right about Trail 4 at tellico. I saw that pic about 2 months ago and knew that's where it was. There is a 5 ton wrecker running around up there with teeth for a radiator grill and it has "TOWZILLA" painted on the side of it. I've seen it a couple of times but haven't got a picture of it...
There are a lot of stories running around about compatibility of ethanol glycol and dexcool or "pink stuff."
Since GM was one of the pioneers here is what I know. The pink stuff is compatible with the green stuff and brass/copper/aluminum etc. The real issue is the architecture of your cooling...
My deuce has a 33 with a sideways T. I've seen several others at different auctions around the country that have the same "33" with a sideways "v". Anybody know the significance?
Yeah, all the linkage and shoes are working fine and there is plenty of material still left on the shoes. I'm going back under and adjusting it back in small increments and see if I can't find the "sweet spot." I probably just missed it.
My e-brake doesn't hold. The adjuster on the handle is tightened as far as it will travel. I loosened it about half way and crawled under the moose and tightened the adjuster till the brake linings began to touch the drum. When I applied the brake it still would not hold even with tightening the...
