Those were some of the nicest looking ones I've seen in a long time (at least the exteriors were nice) and it looked like they all had new tires. Even the non-starting trucks got way up there. It's a shame I couldn't get in on that bunch. Maybe next time.
You're good from Cortez through Durango and onto Memphis-only a couple of long grades between Cortez and Hesperus, but there are passing lanes there so you'll be fine. Maybe someone else has experience from Ogden to Cortez. Good luck and have fun!

Your indicated route is the best way to go. I used to work for AAA in the travel routing department and that's the preferred route thru that area - no nightmares, roadwise. Do NOT be tempted to go thru Grand Junction, Ouray, Silverton, and Durango. That's a suicide run for a deuce! I know...
Also, on GL, don't forget that you want one that's 60 hz and not 400 hz. A number of people have won 400 hz units and found out they aren't good for anything but powering aircraft on the tarmac.
Looks like smaller front tires on the firetruck. Mud not withstanding, won't having smaller diameter front tires (than the rears) cause driveline bind up?
I'm glad you got that fixed, but while you're at it you might want to check the braided ground strap(s), usually at the rear of the engine block to the frame and/or firewall, just to make sure they're good and tight. One of those often forgotten pieces of the charging system...
