You need to move to Limestone County ;-)
I kept my trucks at a friend's house right off County Line road outside of Madison. He has 7 acres of land.
Sounds like you need a M1009 :)
Welcome to the site. I love driving my M1009!
We've got a few folks up here in North/Central Bama area. There's a Labor day mini-rally at Moutainside Off Road park in Gadsen.
Not with gearing that tall. It's not just the RPM, the load is also a factor in MPG.
BTW, my absolute WORST mileage in my M1009 was 18 MPG while towing a 5000lb boat. I usually average around 22-25 if I can keep the truck in 3rd at 45-50mph. I don't drive it on the interstate much though.
I'm sure it's fun to run over cars, but you could have sold the engine, trans, etc. off the car first. I know it's your car (well I hope it is) and you can do whatever you want to it, but it's like you just destroyed $500.
In Alabama, if you just want cheap plates and don't plan on driving it much, just go with Antique plates. It's a $30 one time fee, and the tag/registration go with the vehicle.
If you want to drive it alot, or use it for work, get a farm/ag plate. I think it's $50/year. Wreckerman has one so...
Since I had to load and unload my trailers mostly by myself, I learned a few tricks to that... The easiest way to load the lunette ring onto a pintle/receiver is to remove the top bolt that holds the upper part of the hitch. Then back the truck until the ring is right over the bottom hook of the...
It's a very tall, boxy trailer. Behind a deuce it looks tiny but behind a fullsize truck it looks huge.
BTW, that receiver/pintle is on a 4" rise from the receiver. When I was picking up 4 of my 6 m105's at GL there was an older F250 with the tailgate removed. They mounted the hitch to the bed...
Put me down for a maybe. I really hope I can get axle seals and the 395's mounted by then, if not I can bring the M1009.
I'll post this on the caos4x4 board as an event they may want to go to since they're big into wheelin' :-D
