To be honest I'm not sure who make quality parts for these anymore. I just try to get panels out of donor trucks now. Works out good for me and thicker steel and proper fit.
Hello all,
I just ordered a light bar to put on the cucv to help out while plowing and off road night driving. Only issue is it take a military plug, so if anyone knows where I can find a plug for this bar or a diagram for all the pins that would be excellent.
I see guys around here have...
While I really like the exterior tire holder and would do it if I had the factory bumper I think ill opt for the bumper mounted swing out. I just think ill have more space and strength to work with. I love where your heads at though, this thread has spurred me to fab up a swing out for my step...
Do it! I swapped out bumpers and it's one of the most practical mods I've done to it. You need a welder and either a cutting torch, plasma cutter or angle grinder but pretty simple. Just understand you will be cutting the frame rails back and it's smooth sailing.
Like I mentioned those amazon lights are pretty killer for the price. Here's a picture, two are 60degree floods and two are 30 degree spots. The floods are in real to be honest, it's surprising how much light t
hey put out. Great off road or when trying to watch for deer or elk crossing the road.
Update with winch and lights. The rear bumper is nothing special, just a m1008 bumper. Found a guy on expedition portal that sold it to me for a fair price. It's so much more practical than that stock bumper. So I removed the old bumper, cut the frame rails far back and welded new mounts...
Sounds good. Ill give the pads a good look, although I haven't yet had any issue with leaking battery that I know of. Regarding the winter front, I figure when we plow it'll come off.
Those battery heater blankets are pretty slick. Not badly priced either, I may throw those in a couple of my vehicles to help out in the winter. Thanks guys
Good advice on the winter front while plowing.
I have been wanting air lockers on my ford and cucv (09). I really like the idea of OX lockers with a manual cable, but have a hard time paying as much as an ARB. I've heard poor reviews about Detroit's on turns with slick or icy roads. Mainly guys are in a turn (apex) and have the ass end...
I picked up a set of leds from amazon they were really cheap but WOW do they put out tons of light. They actually are pretty robust too, I was surprised to be honest.

not bad for sixteen bucks and got...
all good information. The CUCV's sure have strong heaters already, I have a block heater I plug in all winter as it get down to the -30's well it did last year where we live now. Never even heard of a battery heater but will look into it. Last year running -30's was no issue in the blazer...
Thanks for the info guys. I just got an ibid tek light bar for the roof but it's only 24" with two flood lights, hopefully it works ok. Otherwise it's back to the drawing board to find a decent light bar for the 09 while plowing. I hope those two monster alts are big enough to run everything...
The aftermarket tailgates are garbage. I ordered one from summit I believe and was initially impressed with the appearance. However as I started to build it up I was shocked at how poorly constructed it really was. No paint inside it either and I completed the whole thing, threw my only...
